Analysis of the Final Solution
Training was identified as a primary solution for addressing the negligence incident. The solution is important in the nursing profession. It is conducted both at the nursing school and through the regular training program in hospitals. However, training that aims to address particular negligence is barely provided. Every nurse qualifies to provide the best service in any profession. Therefore, they are expected to adopt proper procedures when treating patients. However, just as any other human being, they are prone to errors. Withdrawing the nurse's license or suspending them from practice could be used to solve the problem. However, the nursing code of conduct also provides an opportunity to address the negligence in an appropriate and fair manner.
Weaknesses of the Identified Solution
The chosen solution was training the nursing personnel. The method is one of the best strategies to address the problem. Training is one of the processes that require the efforts of hospital management and other stakeholders. Besides, it needs financial resources to host the events and hire the right personnel to conduct the training. The process also requires the materials for training the nurses. For example, the presentation material or availing the software needed for conducting training require adequate financial resources (Huang, Sun & Lien, 2015). Therefore, the hospital has to gather for such a new budget. Even though few institutions would adopt and avail such resources for the training of its nurses, most of the hospitals or health provider are not prepared due to the fact the nursing personnel makes a majority of the healthcare professionals. Furthermore, it is difficult to disrupt the normal running of the hospital during the training period. Even though the process can be performed in a series of different sessions, the process is still challenged with the strict nursing schedule. Also, when the emergency cases occur, every person is required to respond to such an event thus inconveniencing the training program.
Methods of Strengthening the Solution
Training upgrades the skills of the nursing personnel. However, it is limited by time and availability of nurses to the training. Therefore, it should be conducted by enrolling an individual enrolment to a particular program. Thus, the nurses can find the appropriate time to undergo the training. The personnel would financially support themselves, especially with the training fee. Therefore, the hospital should make such training as a compulsory program that every nurse should undertake. The step provides nurses an opportunity to find an appropriate time for the training. For the cases where negligence results from a particular instance such as the one described, the institution should outline a protocol to allow compulsory training to the nurses involved in the negligence issues.
For example, training should also be offered based on the extent of errors made. Even though mistakes have no room in the nursing profession, reporting of such cases occur regularly (Huang, Sun & Lien, 2015). Thus, the nursing code of conduct should outline methods of addressing the problems. It should, therefore, classify the level of errors with the penalties associated with them. As a result, every nurse would often be keen to deliver their duties with the highest code of conducts.
Conclusion
Errors that lead to cases of negligence are inevitable in any healthcare system. However, the strategies toward reducing the problem should emphasize on the strict code of conducts. One of the means of adopting this is to outline a system and the penalties linked to certain levels of negligence. Consequently, every nursing professional would strive to deliver appropriate services and minimize cases of neglect. Training is one of the most important strategies used to address problems. However, it is challenged by significant factors such as time, resources, and the ability to deliver the instill skills that address specific forms of negligence.
