Introduction
This model the precede-proceed model has been essential in the solving of various health problems all over the world. The model is highly used in bringing health solutions to developing countries. According to Azizzadeh & Shojaezadeh (2020), it is highly used to make efficient ineffective health solutions to various health-related problems all over the world. The model is a very comprehensive structure used to evaluate the requirements for coming up with the best design, assessment, and implementation of the promotion of health and other public health programs that meet the stipulated needs. The model gives the needed structure for the planning of a well-structured framework of public health activities, which can give the essential requirements that are required to be achieved. Therefore, it is essential to understand the Proceed-proceed model by looking at its elements and applying its framework in designing a program that will aid in promoting oral rehydration that is used on underage children, especially in developing countries.
The elements of the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model
The system structure of the precede–proceed, model, aims to ensure that there is an accurate framework for meeting a needed required campaign for the needs of the public health structure. There are various element that supports the model in meeting its need. The first element of the model focuses on making a broad assessment of various community factors. In contrast, the part of the model involves getting the desired results from the works expected to be performed by the stipulated model program. Thus, it is essential to look at the two parts of the models separately for an easier understanding of the elements.
The PROCEDE part of the model is the first element that plays a crucial role in getting the evaluation of the various community problems whose solution needs to be met by the plan. The assessment involves various factors that have previously or are currently affecting the targeted community. The assessment involves the following various segments that include the social evaluation, the assessment of epidemiology, the ecological assessment, the administrative evaluation, and finally, the implementation of the interventions (Handyside, Warren, Devine,& Drovandi, 2020). Firstly social evaluation or assessment involves getting the essential social problems affecting the targeted population and coming up with the required solutions for the problem. The epidemiological assessment is the evaluation that aims at getting the health determinants of specific problems and coming up with stipulated goals that need to be met in dealing with the health problem. On the other hand, ecological assessment involves the analysis of the environmental behavior of a given population, which might play a role in affecting the health standard of the given population.
The second element of the model is the PROCEED part, which focuses on the health program's desired results. The process involves implementing a new system that can provide a solution to the health problems found in the first part of the model. The PROCEED model structure is made up of the implementation, process evaluation, impact evaluation, and outcome evaluation. These processes are performed chronologically to meet all the population's needs to avoid missing all the targeted needs of the program. The first step involves implementing the designed structure that aims to give a healthy solution to the problem found. At this stage, the design is intervened and evaluated based on the resources available and the methods of starting the program project. Secondly, there is process evaluation when the project is assessed to check whether it is satisfied and reaches the program's targeted population. It then proceeds to impact evaluation, where a comparison of the population's previous behavior is made against the population's behavior after the changes. Finally, the outcome evaluation will be performed to assess the performance of the program.
Oral Re-Hydration Program Used In Children in a Developing Country
The oral rehydration program in a developing country utilized the use of PROCEDE-PROCEED model to bring hope to the targeted population. Firstly a study was conducted to evaluate levels of conditions that were needed to start the project in the third world country. Secondly, it was essential to perform an ecological study to identify the various ways the program might conflict with the cultures of the developing country (Nomura et al., 2019). Therefore, the program will settle on giving a cheap and effective method, which will help millions of children from the risks by administering oral hydration therapy.
The program will involve teaching various women in the country various ways of preventing their children from dehydration. Also, it is essential to focus on the major role of the project needed to ensure that children in third-world countries receive a cheaper and affordable means of rehydrating the body after the specialty.
After the program, it will be essential to come up with the stages of implementing the program to reach the whole developing countries. It will be made possible by ensuring that the pilot countries start the study before the problem is rolled out to the other developing countries. Thus, an assessment will be done to identify the change in behavior in the population before and after it has been rolled out.
Conclusion
Conclusively, the Precede-Proceed model is an important model in solving various health projects. Its elements are well organized in meeting the health needs of any population. For instance, looking at a case of the rolled-out program of rehydrating children in developing countries the oral rehydration method came as a cheap and affordable method of meeting the population's needs.
