Film Analysis: Schindler's List

"Schindler's List" by Steven Spielberg is the film chosen for analysis. This film was set during the most horrifying period in the history of the world. This film is based on the real-life story of Oscar Schindler, who was a Nazi profiteer trying to save the life of the Jews. Even though originally Oscar Schindler sided with the Nazi regime, he goes and tries to save some Jews workers, who are considered important to the success of his factory. Different from the movies in the modern era, which are shot in color, "Schindler's List" was cast in black and white. Even though producing a film in black and white is considered obsolete, "Schindler's List" utilizes this strategy to make it stand out. Also, the film employs parallel editing, whereby different scenes are intertwined together to bring out a unique and aesthetic vision for the audience. The producer uses the filming techniques to perfectly show the viewers the paradoxical and absurd period that of world history that it is difficult for the Jews to forget. In general, "Schindler's List" is a must watch the film, especially for humanities lovers as the combination of the plot and different film techniques makes the film both entertaining and captivating.

According to Plato long time, ago human beings were round with, same faces, for ears and eyes, four arms and legs on opposite sides, as well as everything else to match. Every human being is born with love, which its purpose is to call back the other halve to heal the wound that was a result of the separation. Therefore, we fall in love by finding the other matching half, which is brought about by a sense of belonging to one another. Thus, they would want to separate again. Aristotle, on the other hand, explain that falling in love depends on what the parties benefit from each other. Also, people can fall in love if they find themselves caring about the goodness in each other. Thus, they end up staying together so that they can continue to pursue the good together.

The first poem "Love's Inconsistency" by Petrarch is about love and pain. The persona in the poem is the author because he makes it personal by using "I." Though his relationship is full of pain; he is compelled to stay because it to be his responsibility. It is important to note that the first poem has one stanza. Different from the first poem, the first poem has no title, but the author is Emily Dickinson. However, similar to the first poem, the second poem by Emily Dickinson has the theme of pain and how the experience of pain is awful. In general, the first poem by Petrarch and the second poem by Emily Dickinson are similar in the sense that they contain a similar theme of pain. On the other hand, they are different in the sense that the second poem is split into three stanzas with short lines, while the first poem only has one stanza with long lines.

Beethoven's Violin Romance No. 2 has a combination of sweet and innocent melodies that make it easier for the audience connect two different historical times. The ability of Beethoven to compose the youthful and delicate phrasing of violin indicates that he is trying to find short intervals during the escapism of composing the music. Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag, different from Beethoven's Violin Romance No. 2, which is based on the phrasing of violin, the music is achieved through fingers on the keyboard, which brings out a stupendous sound by blending march tempos, ragged and minstrel-show music that can be played even in the next decades.

Explanation in Classical Terms Why a Modern Character is a Hero: Harry Potter

Harry Potter is humble, modest and calm compared to the modern stereotypical heroes. He was adopted and brought up in bullied and horrible home by his adoptive parents. Perhaps this is among the reasons why he did not see himself as a hero but based on his ability, and superior modesty clearly shows how Potter is a modern character-hero in both novels and films.
