Facility Assessment: Gernon Brown Recreation Center

I visited Gernon Brown Recreational Center which is located on 1001 Harrison Avenue and offers dance studios, basketball courts, and recreational facilities among many others. On a general note, I loved the experience at the facility because they have something for everyone including small children such that when one comes with them, they are not going to be that bothersome (Aicher, Paule-Koba & Newland, 2015). In fact, they offer most of the things free for them including ballet classes, piano lessons and sewing all for free. The school going children are also served with free lunch, so the parent does not have to bother purchasing something for them. In addition, they also have Hola Hoola and sign language which is open to adults as well. They have adequate staffing manning its various facilities, and they look enthusiastic, organized and willing to assist, and they have an outstanding uniform and name tags that make it easy to identify them from a crowd. They also have great customers service who are always online like when I called to ask questions before coming over to the place they provided me with satisfactory answers and got me satisfied with the queries that I had. I felt welcome to visit the facility again and again especially because I did not require to call for booking, unlike others.

The atmosphere is safe, beautiful and clean in a way that one does not feel like leaving when you are here. From a basketball court that is designed with multipurpose rooms to the smooth finish on the playing grounds and the areas for practicing, the place does market itself for the ones who have been here there is always that striking good thing about the facility (Aicher et al., 2015). There is a stage located at the back of the basketball court from where NORDC offers free piano lessons and basketball and volleyball free play for adults. The park is spacious enough to accommodate all the different departments autonomously. The departments offering various services are designed logically with ample space in mind to ease movement by the various participants. The doorways are large enough to make room for entry and exit by several people at the same time. There is much bigger room for the halls designed for playing to accommodate a ball hit to move much higher. It is easy to notice from the design of the gym, basketball courts and dancing rooms and the artistic work that goes with the doors and the edges of these houses that professional designers were hired to do it and they had the time to themselves. The furniture, fixtures, and equipment have been designed with beauty in mind with a smooth and elegant finishing that is calm to the eyes and curved corners. When you sit on their chairs, you do not feel like waking up and would want to remain there for ages due to the cushioning effect contained in them. The spacing left in the park can be used in upgrading the park by constructing the missing facilities like a pool and a fitness center which are missing. On the overall, I found Gernon Recreation Center to be comfortable and convenient especially by the provision of a bike parking, and hence I do not have to drive all the way, but I wish in future they can start accepting credit cards for payment.
