Pharmacy and its illegal activities have become a significant challenge to the people. People from the United States and those from New Zealand have raised up various views concerning the issue of direct to direct drug prescriptions to the patients. They have settled this matter by coming up with different opinions. As a result, the issue has led to the emergency of opponents and proponents drawing their varied reasons why they oppose and propose directly to direct drug prescriptions to the patients.
On the side of those who oppose direct to direct prescriptions of drugs to the patients, they argue that direct involvement by the specialist such as doctors during drug prescriptions may end up in encouraging individuality hence neglecting the welfares of the rest of the people in the society. Also, they claim that direct prescriptions of drugs are more expensive as compared to indirect prescriptions (Gibson, Shannon, 16). More costs are spent in order to enhance the process of drug prescriptions in various places of the country, therefore, creating a wide gap in the economics of a particular country by bringing beneficial to one sector. Moreover, they believed that direct to direct prescriptions of the drugs to the patients might also have some impact on the people since it would cost them a lot of money when they are in the act of purchasing the drugs.
The opponents of direct to direct offering of drug prescriptions to the patients dwell their ideas on the issue of being given some unbeneficial pieces of advice from the doctors, which can later expose them to death, especially among the patients involved. Opposers of the direct to direct drug prescription also claims that if patients would tend to depend too much on the prescriptions given to them by their doctors rather than considering the side effects of the drug ( Daubresse, Matthew, 18). Also, they argue that direct drug prescription may lead to loss of time because the process of prescriptions takes a lot of time since it is accompanied by the guiding and counseling of the patients before being given the prescriptions. Opponents of the direct to direct drug prescriptions to the patients also support their views that the method emphasizes the positive hence leaving aside its negative impacts.
On the other side, proponents of the direct to direct prescriptions have also laid down their argument. Firstly, they believed that direct to direct prescription in most cases would help the patients to be aware of their future health status, therefore, making them look for preventive measures so as to overcome the impacts of the disease. Also, some people propose that direct to direct prescriptions of drugs should be encouraged in the community since it helps them to become motivated by seeking more pieces of advice from the doctor about the particular disease hence prevented it before it spreads and affects them (Mukherji, Prakriti, et al., 22). Furthermore, direct to direct prescriptions of drugs is supported by some of the proponents because the method relieves the patients from their condition of loneliness by making, he/she to have hope about their general health status. Proponents also claim that there should be direct to direct patient's prescriptions in the hospitals and in the society since it will help the government to estimate the amount of money needed to gather for the purpose of medical activities. Also, direct to direct prescriptions of drugs to the patients is strongly supported by the proponents as majorly discusses on the positive side effects of the intake of drugs by the person involved rather than its negative side thereby giving some hopes to the patient and it will also encourage them to live a longer life.
Direct to direct drug prescriptions is also supported by its opponents because the method usually makes the patient get access to the drugs before the disease reaches a situation that is difficult for them to cure. Proponents of the direct prescriptions of the drugs to the patients also raise their views that the process will enhance the innovation of new drugs after they have realized that the description which they have offered earlier does not function effectively. The introduction of new drugs will, therefore, help the patient to recover to their normal health conditions hence increasing their chances of survival. Also, the opponents of direct to direct drug prescriptions argue that the method of prescriptions is useful to the people since it offers education to them(Palminteri and Pessiglione, 24). Direct prescriptions of the drugs educate the people by putting more emphasis on the issue of seeking earlier treatment and also how to use certain given drugs so as to recover faster. Patients getting the knowledge of earlier treatment is also significant to them since it will aid in reducing the cost of treatment. Opponents of the direct to direct drug prescriptions to the patients also believes that the method helps the patients to get informed on the dangers of misuse of drugs if wrongly take the drug, therefore, reducing incidences of sudden deaths. Proponents of direct to direct drug prescriptions also claim that the patients will get first-hand information, which is accurate in which they can apply it at their different places.
