Reflective Statement 1
I have learned a lot from this unit; therefore, it is an unforgettable experience for me for the rest of my life. In the process of learning in the unit, my emotions have changed greatly, just like getting on a roller coaster and feeling as if I have not to get rid of the roller coaster. I had all kinds of anxiety, and I was surprised by the best group members to experience a new challenge again for element two. I am so grateful that it’s over, but I feel that this was a very significant experience that I learn a lot from it.
In the beginning, my emotions were very anxious and unstable due to the outbreak of the pandemic. I could imagine that everyone experiences the same scenario in that period. However, the course outline contents and plans made me feel so worried that I might not finish it efficiently and successfully. My group members and I were dispersed all over the world. We share at least four diverse time zones; our first project was to make a video that will require strong communication and cooperation. These challenges made it harder to complete the unit, so I was so worried about the kind of results I will score in the project. My group members were shocked when they learn of my experience about the unit since they were all caring and very enthusiastic to excel in the project. We always comfort and encourage each other as we work as group members. The cooperation that we had in our group was perfect and efficient. After we come up with the project theme, we immediately divide ourselves into various parts of the project, and we managed to conduct video conference discussions regularly. In the process of conducting a video conference discussion, we would keenly consider each other’s time zone at any time despite any questions to be discussed. Due to my responsibility for the logo part, it has enabled me to move greater. I was doing some test designs; since I was not satisfied, I lost confidence. As a result of my action, I was so worried that it will impact our results, but my group members encouraged me and gave me a lot of appreciation that enabled me to achieve a perfect logo design. The encouragement seems like nothing before, but it became very effective and meaningful for me during the pandemic, and it calmed my restlessness from time to time.
I do not regret element one, although I have to design a perfect logo for this project. Despite the fact that we did not score A, the cooperation that exists in my group was perfect in my heart. I have pities for element two since I was treated as a suspected case when I landed in China. Even though my test results were confirmed to be negative, the whole process was painful for me. I was alone in quarantine in the hospital and did not have internet that impacts my completion of element 2, so I applied for EC. Carrie and Karoline gave me significant help and support during the entire process, and I did my best to finish the project. However, without this misfortune, element 2 was a perfect experience.
I learn a lot from the unit, and I think there are four things I desire to make a change in the future. First, I would expect more for group work. Secondly, I would properly adjust my emotions positively, and I should believe that I am not the only one experiencing the dilemma. Thirdly, I should actively contact the school when it comes to a serious situation. Finally, I should get prepared to face directly the difficulties that come my way in the future. Hard work pays, therefore I should put a lot of effort to handle the task such as course projects to the best of my ability.
Reflective Statement 2
My year two is very special, either for personal growth or professional development. Through my past experiences, I have changed my view on life and professional aspects, and now I have diverse plans and expectations for next year’s life as a student.
For professional development, I chose creative directions for fashion, which was, at first, very comprehensive. I thought I could experience the fun and content of fashion communication from different levels, but then I found that this course requires strong creativity and composition skills. More so, it has relatively high requirements for literary guidance. Based on my initial assumptions, it is different, and I think all courses are fundamental. Both the art director and creative director must not only have strong creativity but also require having rich content in mind. After my first and second years, I think my investigation ability, creativity, and analysis ability have improved. In the beginning, I did not even know where to begin the investigation, but now I feel like I am close to know the essence of investigation and ideation that makes me feel a sense of accomplishment. For the first outcome, I want to improve my writing skills. In year 3, I will have to consult more with the tutor, sing up for more tutorials, and pay more attention to the academic support programs in the school. Secondly, I want to participate in diverse kinds of school activities since I had participated in one-on-one entrepreneurial meetings and lectures. Therefore, in the future, I want to participate in more different types of activities to enrich my knowledge and creativity and also to make the best out of it for the limited time in my final year in LCF.
I have a greater sense of personal development. I love London. I love how people respect the arts and fashion in London. More so, I love London since there are opportunities everywhere, as long as I pay attention to it, and also, I love how people interact with each other, which leads to a multicultural atmosphere. In the past two years, I think I have become more open-minded and jumped out of my comfort zone to reach people who are completely different from my interests. The emergence of the pandemic has brought a certain impact on my social interaction. I really miss the life of exploring the city and people. However, I still have expectations for all of this been over. In the past two years at LCF, I learned that I must always keep an open heart because you don’t know what people or occasions may surprise you. For personal outcome, I still hope that I could always maintain an open mind, and always prepare to face the challenges and difficulties, because when I start professional work, the difficulties would be ten times harder than what I have a deal with now.
