The one person who is famous and admires me is Angelina Jolie, an actress and Hollywood icon who, in 2009, was named by Forbes as the most powerful celebrity in the world (Moran et al., 2017). I happen to know Angelina Jolie personally because we met at one of the charity works (Evans et al., 2014). She was doing this in my community; at the time, I was six years old and had a chronic condition that had become hard to treat as a result of the high expenses that were involved. After learning about my health at the charity, Angelina Jolie volunteered to pay my medical bills, which I promised afterwards to be forever thankful.

Jolie used to visit me at the hospital, giving me the courage and talking about how everything was going to be alright. My condition was treated. I spent a lot of time at the hospital, and with the frequent visits by Angelina Jolie, a bond had been formed between us. Weeks later, I resumed school, and I promised Jolie to work hard in school, ever since I have always put in extra effort to be the best in everything I do. I keep in contact with Angelina Jolie, and she is always telling me how she admires me for my hard work; I have never let my past chronic condition define me; instead, I have gained inspiration from it.

The experience with Angelina Jolie has been great in my life; it has allowed me to grow in a way that no one ever believed I could because of the condition I had. The condition I had when I was a kid is cystic fibrosis; this is a genetic condition or a disorder that specifically affects the lungs and the digestive system (Amin et al., 2020). Among the residents in the United States, it is said to affect about 30,000 kids and young adults. It is a chronic condition that, if untreated, can eventually lead to death. Because of the disease, I was slender as per frame, and the doctors told me that it was hard for me to gain weight despite keeping a balanced diet (Rueegg et al., 2016).

They said that mucus was blocking the passageways of the pancreas, which was preventing the pancreatic digestive juices from going through to the intestines (Wark, & McDonald, 2018). With there being no digestive juices, it was hard for the intestines to absorb proteins and fats well enough; this meant that the nutrients were passing out of my body unused, rendering them useless in helping my body grow (Rueegg et al., 2016). The condition is said to lead to death in that the person suffering from the disorder will eventually start feeling short of breath as a result of the disease affecting the lungs (Smyth & Rayner,2017). It is so even when a person is just resting, and death may subsequently occur if untreated (Wark & McDonald, 2018).

Treating the disease had become a challenge; being a child from a single mother, we struggled financially. My parent tried looking for help in several places, but all was to no avail. Angelina Jolie was heaven-sent; meeting her forever changed not only my life but that of my mother too. We had almost given up almost all hope. For playing a significant part in me recovering and for the visits that she made while I was hospitalized, I became forever grateful.

I decided to repay that faith by working hard not only in my school work but in everything I was involved in with life. The bond that had been formed between Angelina Jolie and me became more potent, and we became good friends. We keep in contact, and she is always asking for my progress in my endeavors. Including my school work, how my mum and I are, and the general things about my life. She is a great inspiration, and she is the reason I strive for excellence in the things that I engage in normally.

Angelina Jolie admires me for several reasons. One is my bravery, and I was brave enough to go through the medication, my courage also helped me fight the disease which I eventually defeated; for that Angelina Jolie admires me and thinks of me as a special kid. Angelina Jolie once told me to live fully and dare greatly; that is what I usually do, and one of the many reasons why she likes me a lot.

If I lose when trying out things, I would still be wiser than I was before trying them out despite the loss. For that reason, I always try out new things and try to take every single opportunity that comes my way. I try to worry less about what other people might think about me; I do not let the worries and expectations of other people weigh me down. Nonetheless, I still take advice from people and remain humble. These, among others, are the reasons why Angelina Jolie likes me. Such plays a significant role in my personal development and the recognition of the importance of appreciating life.

Conclusion

The experience with the condition has made me a better person, and so has the knowledge I have had with Angelina Jolie. She has been an inspiration, and she pushes me to get better things. I have dreams of becoming an actor like her someday, and achieving even half of what she has achieved is considered a success for any aspiring actor (Guo et al., 2017). Nonetheless, I aim at making even better than her because that is what she usually tells me to do. We still keep in contact, and I now consider her a friend as she does me; she admires me a lot.
