Introduction
According to Israeli and Lane (2019), DayTwo is a start-up that makes use of research on the gut micro biome to give personalised nutrition recommendations to the user in order to reduce the blood sugar levels after meals. According to Bashiardes et al (2018) the microbiome medicine company uses artificial knowledge, learning of machine, a platform that is unique and database to develop diagnostics, nutritional recommendations that are personalised through an application software and therapeutics based on their gut. The company wants to help the world become healthier and become the standard care for diabetes and also make medical claims as well as minimizing the blood glucose levels. The product was placed under research resulting to ones clinical and individual parameters and also the individual gut microbiome which is an ecosystem of many millions of bacteria and other microbes found in our digestive systems influenced the response of glycemic. Therefore there machine learning logarithms could accurately predict the personalised blood sugar responses to any type of meal or food. According to Crowd (2018) an example of what was found is that bananas might spike the levels of blood sugar to one person and on another person there could be no any effect. Eating apples with walnuts could also make the glycemic spike to disappear and this made customers in Israel and US to report benefits of using DayTwo as they were able to moderate the response of glycemic to their food.
DayTwo's strategy was to choose a target market as it would influence their decisions in messaging, distribution channels, pricing and developing of the product. The consumers got disappointed by the limited personalized information that the testing firms delivered about their ancestry and heritable maladies. However, DayTwo focused on three subgroups of people with diabetes, the overweight and wellness enthusiasts instead of focusing on the mass market that the genetic testing firms seemed to be targeting. In 2015 the estimated value of 415 million people around the world were suffering from diabetes. Five million of the people in that year died from diabetes. While the products to monitor and reduce the blood sugar levels were few only DayTwo provided the personalised recommendations to control the levels based on their food intakes. The overweight, high levels of blood sugar contributed to obesity which resulted to premature death, stroke, cancer, coronary diseases and mental illness. Addressing the issue of obesity was left to the individuals who had challenges initiating the changes required to reduce the weight. Weight loss diets varied in that some dictated on metrics such as calories intake while others focused on carbohydrates and other specific food groups. One unique way was based on the blood type of a person, where a person's blood type was the determinant of the foods to eat. The athletes and fitness enthusiasts were another target for DayTwo because of their need to maximize their physical performance and health .Availability of devices such as heart monitors, sleep monitors, pedometers helped these people to track their physical information so as to make informed health as well as lifestyle decisions.
Conclusion
In Israel DayTwo products were primarily sold direct to the consumers through public relations. They were all over in the televisions which is easy to reach to celebrities and acquire headlines to emphasise on the use of the products. The company prioritized on television advertising just as the pharmaceutical firms also did.
