Introduction

The main point in the report for a global burden for disease and risk factors is to present a health plan based on research that was done previously following the GBD methodology. The initiation of this project was to try and create a better health system and plan for the people. The idea is later adopted globally by many countries in developing their health care plan.

The point is developed by analyzing data on various sectors within the health care system. The researched topics mainly were the assessments on demographic underpinnings for epidemiology, deaths, diseases, and injury burdens by age and sex, disease, and injury burdens based on nineteen risk factors. Other subjects researched on were robustness on the findings to uncertainties in the data and the alternative assumptions and finally, the impactions of including stillbirths in the global burden of disease.

The purpose of the reading was to provide an insight to and an understanding of the findings of the 2001 GBD research, as explained in the paper. The primary purpose was to provide a culmination of the research done towards the creation of the global disease burden assessments. The research finding enables the analyst to come up with ways of improving epidemiology of the disease, the associated injuries, and the risk factors (Lopez et al., 2006). It also paves the way for the initiation of a continuous period assessment of the global health sector performance, based on the previous research and the improvements that were done. The general goal, as stated earlier, is to develop a health plan where everyone is safe as the risk that is identified in the research can be mitigated early enough.

Two essential ideas stood out for me, namely the generation of forums for informed debate values and priorities and the creation of knowledge. This is because; the assessment of the burden of disease and the risk factors is a vast topic. It requires the efforts of different specialist and policymakers. For instance, the analysis may require disease specialist, epidemiologists, and some politicians. This way, the formulation of the health plan and the strategies to be followed in establishing a concrete health plan will be smooth and realistic. It would have captured the ideas of the different sectors and arrive at a consensus where the decision is an inclusive one.

The second one is the creation of knowledge. As stated in the reach, medical education is often to be given in medical schools. The primary focus here was on the allocation resources within the institutions. Mostly, the time resource pertaining to their instructional hours and training programs. The effort here is to create a balance which would enable the students being trained to be caregivers obtain stability and offer substantial-quality service since released to the work market. The knowledge should also be qualified to allow the students to venture deeper into medical research, for instance, the development of vaccines.

Conclusion

The ideas are totally new to the knowledge I already have. Initially, the idea of involving various stakeholders in one sitting to develop a health plan was not there. It would be rather preferred for the separate sectors to functions differently. However, this new idea introduces the involvement of different people in the decision making where everyone comes up with their ideas, and they are collectively put together to come up with a practical plan. The Involvement of students in the creation of knowledge also is a new idea. This is because students previously are only taught what is already existential. They are also to have balanced training programs and instructional hours. They would thus be incorporated into the sector well.
