Several organizations are successful due to the strong emphasis on primary competency that they exploit to maximize business and the profits they incur. Thus, this requires the unique resources that they have (Thompson, 2013). Such resources make some organizations to outdo their competitors. Unique resources of the organizations always affect the products and services of the organizations to bring in the competitive advantage to the firm (Teodorescu & Binder, 2004). Additionally, the core competencies of every organization are the measurements for their success. Such successful organizations include Honda, FedEx, Amazon.com, and Whole Foods. For instance, Honda has a core competency on engine design and management. Engineers at Honda work together side by side, to produce the best products that outdo other competitors' products. Thus, making the organization more successful. The paper discusses ways in which successful organizations major on their core competency to succeed.
Consequently, in FedEx, their core competency is transportation and logistics. Through this, the company tries its best to provide excellent services to its customers (Thompson, 2013). As the company captures all forms of transportation be it air, road, sea as well as any other related services comprising of packaging, warehousing and assembling among others. Ideally, the core competency of Amazon.com is the online customer buying experience where the organization ensures that it provides an excellent marketing blog, which serves customers in a better way.
Whole Foods as an organization major on quality, team member excellence, ensure the customers are satisfied, involves community and growth in the business. Successful companies that are known to have majored on their competency might lose their competency when they fail to meet the customers' needs, which end up not satisfying their customers (Thompson, 2013). Through the shortage of unique resources, there would be a decline of the company. Therefore such successful organizations ought to provide unique resources that can be used to increase the production of the company. For instance, Whole Foods as an organization ought to offer food with good taste to target a good number of customers.

In conclusion, organizations that are known to be successful have their ways of outdoing their competitors. The key aspect that leads to their success is the majoring on the core competency. These are the unique resources that organizations use in the growth and production of the products they offer to their intended customers.
