Statistical Trends

The management of Asthma is essential, this is because of the increasing number of new cases that are being reported throughout the country. According to statistical reports presented by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one in 13 people in the country have the condition (Hall et al., 2018). This means that more than 26 million people throughout the country suffer from the condition, this number represents 8.3 percent of the adults and 8.3 percent of children. The statistical report also suggests that there has been a steady increase in the number of people suffering the asthma condition since 1980, the number has been increasing for people from all gender, race and age groups. However, even with this increase, adult women have been the most affected members of the society with this condition as compared to the adult men. The death rate of members from the African American community in the country is also higher as compared to the rate of deaths from other races and ethnic groups. The number of asthma attacks has also been increasing over time, this means that the care and management of asthma needs to be improved. There have been more than 11.5 million reported cases of asthma attacks throughout the year in the country, among these reported cases, children accounted for about 3 million cases. Reports from studies which have been conducted regarding this condition have established that the disease is the leading chronic disease which affects children in the United States of America, many children are affected by this condition as compared to the number of adults affected by the condition (Hall et al., 2018). The condition affects more boys as compared to girls and it is reported that more than 6 million children who are below the age of 18 years are affected by this condition. This has been one of the leading causes of missed school days and poor performance in school. It is because of these reasons that it is necessary to identify and develop quality measures for the management of the asthma condition.

Quality Measures

Quality measures have become an essential tool in evaluating the quality of care that is given to the patients suffering from a particular condition, in this case, asthma. The quality measures will be used as a standard way of providing healthcare to the individuals suffering from asthma. These quality measures are developed so as to make sure that there are optimal outcomes of health, ensure that clinical processes are conducted in a structural manner, ensure that there is patient safety and also make sure that health care resources are used efficiently. The quality measures are also developed to make sure that there is an adherence to the clinical guidelines which have been established. The quality measures include; the measure of asthma admission rate for young adults. This measure will increase the quality of prevention through the principles of diagnosis which have been developed (Miller & Albrecht, 2016). The type of this measure is the outcome. Asthma admission rate is another measure which is used, this is a measure to improve the pediatric quality care. This type of measure is outcome. Another measure which is used in this case is the measure for adult admission rate, this to measure the outcome. Another quality measure is the home management plan, this is a process to make sure that the admission rate of individuals suffering from asthma is reduced

Compatibility of Data

The data in this case will be compatible, this is because it will be obtained from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is used to measure the performance of the health care plans that are commercial and also offer the correct dimensions of the health care services and management.

Effects of Information Quality on the HIE

The national database collects data from across the country for commercial uses while the HIE data is used for health information exchange. The quality of data from the national database is high because it is monitored and regulated.

Conclusion

The use of data from the national database provides data that is compatible and one that can be used to make sure that the information provided for the management and development of quality measures is quality.
