Economically, every activity that requires the use of some kind of energy should be rewarded. Sports, like athletics, involve physical activity that utilizes energy and should get compensated. The contemporary world categorizes sports as one of the leading socioeconomic engagements which can alternatively provide a livelihood for people that decide to explore such commitments. Athletics sporting activity is also a talent that requires proper nurturing, and issues of college payment to the participants can potentially prepare astute sportspersons in such a field. Despite the general claim that remunerating college athletes may prove expensive for universities and colleges, the money realized in tournament payments can as well get redirected to cater for payment of the parties. College athletes should get paid to strengthen and nurture talents for the participants during and even after college.

Paying college athletes would ensure that students remain healthy even as they participate in sports. Most talented young athletes suffer stress-related disorders due to the high demands of life-related commitments. The burden becomes unbearable when the student should provide for their college fees and accommodation charges. However, the concentration on athletics would increase when students that participate in such a sport in college get payments. The payment can include scholarships that cover tuition and accommodation. The college athlete would focus on the game without developing stress-related disorders due to life socioeconomic pressures (Hess, n.p). Healthy athletes would not only become psychologically stable but are capable of nurturing their skills in athletics to full potential. It would also ensure that the students focus on their academics and sports without any kind of financial distraction.

Paying college athletes would offer a reprieve to already burdened parents that must cater to everything for their children in conforming to the payment rules. The law dictates that athlete students cannot generate revenues despite relatively high payment rates for participating in athlete sporting games in colleges and universities. The demands of the law leave the students with a limited option. They, however, resort to only relying on the loans, which sometimes are not guaranteed. Further, such loans also attract interest rates and inconvenience most athlete students and their families. Paying college students would ensure that they comply with the payment rules without burdening their families. Remunerating college athletes would offer them an incentive to participate in the sports and related endeavors fully. Monetary rewards always motivate people to provide their best in carrying out engagements. College athletes represent their institutions in sports tournaments and bring glory to their universities when they emerge winners. However, excellent performers can only get attained and maintained through rewards, which payment of college athletes would ensure. Studies indicate that lack of college athletes' payment demoralizes the students, and only 2% of students nurture their talent to become professional sportspersons in athletics (Hess n.p). Lack of payment may not only demoralize them in athletics but also inspire them to look for other productive engagements to meet the demands of the financial burden. Students may view sporting activities as less productive and develop a notion of disinterest in it altogether.

Payment of college athletes would also ensure that the tuition costs get relatively reduced on the part of the student. Increased competition for colleges that remunerate their students would provide more students who will generate more revenues to the institution. Increased revenues would lower the burden of the associated costs in running the college and universities. The decrease would translate into the fees paid by the students. Wealthy institutions would offer affordable tuition cost due to the mass number of learners that enroll in their facility. Economically, a higher number of clients realize the benefits of economies of scale, which will benefit more learners (Abdoulaye, 20). It is, therefore, recommended that college pay students that engage in sporting endeavors, particularly athletics, due to reduced tuition fees burden associated with it.

Providing wages and associated rewards to college athletes would attract talented players. It would also ensure that athletes in colleges stay for a more extended period. It is evident that colleges that perform well in sports activities control a large market base for their programs and attract lots of students across the country. Good paycheck for the athletes in colleges would ensure that they stay longer in their applications and perform well in competition (Thomas n.p). Their excellent performance would earn the college revenues, and trophies won in various tournaments. The college may also win lucrative deals in the advertisement if they perform well, and such are only possible through competitive rewards. It is on this premise that colleges should start introducing paycheck for students that engage in athletic sports.

Students will earn credit if they get incorporated into the work system of their colleges. Many benefits always accrue to students that enter into work-study programs with their colleges and universities. One of the benefits can be in the credit award that would facilitate the student's graduation. Sporting activities are pure talents, and only a small percentage of its component gets nurtured through education. Institutions can assist students that engage in athletic courses such that the ones that actively participate and represent the institution in various tournaments get given credit waivers. The organization can incorporate a credit waiver as a form of payment to the college student, and such endeavors would benefit not only the learners but also the college or university in the long term (Reyes n.p).

The payment of college athletes would reduce crime associated with fraud and corruption. Most students always get desperate in meeting life goals and sometimes are compromised in particular issues that bring disgrace to their character. Research has shown that some colleges lure high school graduates in choosing some of their programs and even enrolling with their affiliate institutions through corrupt deals. However, payment of college athletes would ensure proper channels of drafting such agreements, and it would be unproductive to engage in unlawful acts created through lack of payment (Reyes n.p).


In summary, the policymakers in sports and education should meticulously draft procedures and guidelines for the payment of college athletes. It would bring viable benefits attached to crime reduction, improvement of the health of the athletes in colleges, and financial reprieve to the families and parents of athletes. Further, it would provide viable means of motivating the players using payment as incentives for engaging in sporting activities. It would ensure longer retention of the athletic participants. Overly, it would ensure that athletic talent in students gets nurtured fully, and learners encourage to purse sports relate endeavor as a means of livelihood and profession.
