This article aims at criticizing the research article by Pals, Hansen, Johansen, Hansen, Jorgensen, Fleischer and Willaing, (2015) on new technologies in the clinical practice. This research was done with an aim of investigating the patients and physicians perspectives of the effectiveness of using the recent technologies in detecting Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy (CAN) in clinics that are associated with treating and managing diabetes. According to the article, several innovations have been developed to enhance assessing risks in healthcare. The article further states that these innovations are projected to improve patient's outcomes. This study used interviews and observation methods for acquiring data. The number of patients who participated in the study was 27, where eight were observed and those who were interviewed were 19. The overall findings of the research indicated that all the patients who participated could not recall undertaking the CAN test and others did not even get the results (Pals et al. 2015). More so, they were unclear of the main purpose of the test and the effects of its results.

Conducting research demands a thoughtful analysis and implementation of findings which is essential in validating of the results. However, the article provides less statistical evidence of the findings obtained. Moreover, the methods of study used are quite not convincing since when conducting interviews and observing the patients after consultation does not convince the readers whether the findings are accurate. Furthermore, the use of unvarying instructions, reducing the investigator's effects and demand representation, and counterbalancing aids in enhancing the internal validity of the study (Pals et al. 2015). To reach to reliable research outcomes, researchers should have put into consideration the responsive effects of testing, relations effects of experimental selection biases and variables as well as the responsive suggestions that are applicable when arranging experiments.

For better research, various factors have to be adhered to so as to obtain more valuable and reliable results. The researcher needs to describe and improvise proper research designs, proper data collection methods, and use of a good sampling technique to enhance its credibility. Use of case study method is more appropriate in research on the effectiveness of the new technology in clinical practices since it investigates details that would not have obtained during observation or interview. More so, based on findings, patients should be informed about technological advancements. The most appropriate communication approach is the dialogue- based approach and should be implemented to ease the manner of test results communication to patients.

Conclusion

From the above discussion, it is evident that the article by Pals et al. (2015) has sufficiently elaborated the research question which tries to investigate the success of the new technologies that have been invented in the clinical practice.
