Introduction
Are you aware that fast food leads to severe complications such as lack of energy and heart attack? Obesity is one thing being talked about a lot lately. The United States has formally turned out to be the fattest country globally, and fast food companies are the reason why. We all have at some point in our lives consumed fast food. What relates to fast food is unhealthy, fatty, greasy item, but many of us still devour junks every day. There are several fast food restaurants in America today. People frequently visit them due to their convenience of being cheap and quick. Within this money-oriented world, individuals are consuming a lot of fast foods. It is for this reason that I am going to talk to you concerning the issue of fast foods and its health impacts, and why we should stop this unhealthy habit.
Fast food is one which is cooked and offered quickly. It is also food which has been precooked like fries and pizza which classically have to be consumed within a specific time or else they will end up drying and in turn be inedible. Eat out joints like Whataburger, Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's and many others are all considered fast food restaurants. All that fast foods contribute to our bodies is more weight which leads to obesity. An individual can be regarded as obese when they have a Body Mass Index of thirty or more. The earlier you become obese, the more the effects on their health and life. Obesity can lead to long-term health effects such as lung problems, heart failure, and diabetes.
A vast portion of McDonald's increase our calorie intake and adds to the increased rate of obesity. According to McDonald's menu, single orders of French-fried potatoes comprise twenty-five grams of fat and five hundred calories, which is thirty-eight percent of the required daily intake. When you eat one big Mac, you will be consuming twenty-five grams of fat and five hundred and forty calories which is forty-five percent of the national recommended daily intake quantity. On top of that, the thirty-two-ounce Coca-Cola adds three hundred and ten calories. I do not see any health in this. Since obesity is the second top source of avoidable deaths in the United States, the significance of nutritious consumption of food ought to be re-evaluated (Ben, 2018). Through creating awareness of the issue of fast foods and obesity prevalence in the U.S, we could start by reversing the drift in gaining weight amongst ourselves.
Fast food companies provide overly huge portions of advertising to the young generation and fail to provide facts on nutrition to explain to us how harmful these foods are, and this proves that they are the most responsible for obesity in this nation (Ben, 2018). With the increased advertisements of fast foods such as fries and burgers to youths and children, we are getting hooked on this food for life. Research shows that in children three to eleven years old, levels of obesity can decline by eighteen percent and in twelve to eighteen-year-olds, the standards can reduce by fourteen percent if they were not exposed to advertisements by these fast food chains (Ogden et al., 2014).
Several people in America consume at least three burgers weekly, making eighty-one percent of the citizens eating junks (Ben, 2018). Fast foods are hazardous towards our wellbeing and lead to several detrimental impacts. Consuming more organic foods can always combat malnourishment and obesity. Unlike fast food, organic foods are not toxic and are nutritious. We need to control our consumption of fast food by eating more natural and nutritional food such as salad, cheese, and milk. Also, adverts on fast foods ought to be discouraged to avoid persuading people, especially children to eat junks. Let's live a healthy life by saying no to junk foods, and exercise more to kick of obesity.
