Introduction

The Virtual Police Department has done its best to bring down a notorious criminal gang called Very Bad Bike Club, VBBC. The process has been going on for the past 11 months, but it has not been fruitful to date. Even though the operation resulted in only a few arrests, it is not sufficient to stop the gang, which is becoming stronger every day. The worsening situation of the group prompted Chief Moore to reach out to the entire Virtual Criminal Justice partners to work collaboratively. My role is to represent state correctional facilities and the Virtual Detention Center. Chief Moore stated that the mandate of the joint task force is to stop the VBBC activities in the city of Virtual. The operation involves police to continuing with their investigation and prosecution and for the alliance to work together. As Security Chief of the state correctional facility, I endeavor to provide sufficient resources within my disposal to the Virtual Criminal Justice Alliance to enable them to effectively combat the vice.

Agency Resources to support the Group Project problem

As the correctional facility chief, I have a lot of resources to address the problem of the VBBC. The first and probably the most effective of all is to install surveillance cameras in all the sections of the correctional facilities (Hoseinzadeh & Jahed, 2019). Further to that, I shall provide exclusive access to the investigative teams that monitor those cameras for 24 hours each day. Thanks to the cameras, we will observe all the prisoners’ activities and the correctional officers as well. Moreover, I plan on rolling out a random search of the prisoners and detainees’ rooms weekly to confiscate any illegal items (Balfour, 2018). Since we also suspect Robert Pole and John Pole are planning to set up a prison network of drug trafficking, I shall set up the following protocols. These protocols include monitoring calls, visitors, and the kind of friends and activities they engage themselves (Hoseinzadeh & Jahed, 2019). Additionally, it will now be mandatory routine to search all persons entering the prison facilities to stop the transfer of drugs and phones (Balfour, 2018). Another vital resource is to deploy our sniffer dogs from time to time to look out for hidden drugs within the facilities.

There is suspicion suggesting offenders capitalize on the time they use to attend trials in court to smuggling contrabands. Therefore, I shall grant an undercover investigative officer full access to our transport cars, which carry notorious criminals. The move shall ensure an added layer of security is present to observe any suspicious activities – considering our correctional officer lack sufficient training in the investigation. Another resource available within my facility is the use of chaplaincy, counselors, and prison educators to sensitize the offenders on the need to quit crime (Czerniawski, 2016).

What Resource Shortfall Precludes a More Effective Response?

There are a couple of resources that hamper an effective response to the process. The surveillance camera installation also requires sufficient servers’ storage to store all the footage. However, our servers do not have adequate memory to store all the footage daily. The shortfall shall significantly hamper progress, especially in situations that require the review of previous footage recordings. Furthermore, the training that correctional officers undergo does not include investigative operations or working in a multiagency team. Therefore, it is imperative to conduct proper training on the officers I choose to spearhead the process within the correctional facilities.

Furthermore, after two correctional officers faced disciplinary actions for smuggling phones to prisons, I am not sure to trust the facility. The thought of having a VBBC spy posing as one of the officers gives within my team gives me sleepless nights. Lastly, the small numbers of chaplaincy we have in our facility – will overstretch their services if we are to run the operation at this scale.

What Data (Identify And Summarize) Supports Their Current Role or Level of Involvement.

My agency’s data on our level of involvement includes a record of officers caught smuggling illegal items into prisons. The data include records of all the prisoners and the other suspected staff members involved in the act. Furthermore, our facilities have a history of everyone who usually calls or comes to visit the prisoners. This information will play a crucial role in identifying the conduit of information between the prison and the outside world. We also have background records of all the offenders, which include medical history and drug-related offenses. Therefore, in cases where an individual starts indulging in drugs, our medical records will quickly identify perennial drug users and the ones who are learning to begin abusing substances.

What Data (Identify and Summarize) May Dictate a Change in that Role.

All the multiagency representatives felt the seriousness of the issue, responsibility required, and the consequences of non-performance. Major Irongates, on the other hand, has her worries concerning the VBBC’s presence in the correctional facility. Although VBBC seems to have united the warring sides in the prison facility, she suspects it is just a ticking bomb before another crisis happens. Dunbar represents a commercial, benefit-driven organization. Dunbar’s essential inspiration is to profit. Raymond Burr has his reservation on the whole arrangement since he deems plea bargaining as the way the criminal justice system can work together. He is ready to indict a solid case against the crew on the condition that the Virtual Police Department performs its duties well.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the whole team of the justice system will only be able to fully eradicate the VBBC criminal gang off the city of Virtual if they work together. The success of collaborative effort entails multiagency committing various resources to the operation. Furthermore, the availability of data is crucial to the success of the process. Assuring the elimination of any instances of information manipulation.
