The importance of international law is considered more relevant to the efforts toward the protection of refugees' fundamental human rights and dignity (Sweeney, 2009). The appropriate research method for this study is qualitative that involves interviewing the participants. It is noteworthy that this special issue will significantly complement the current academic literature on refugees by concentrating on how international law can empower the refugees' protection. This topic is appropriate because it provides well-researched work with adequate evidence. Also, it has sufficient sources that shed light on the refugee crisis. Apart from this topic, I also considered the questions highlighting the rise of terrorism and healthcare management but focused only on international legal issues.

Currently, the number of refugees in the world has now exceeded 68 million. In this case, more than two-thirds of the persons in exile arrived from the Syrian Arab state, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Myanmar, and Somalia. In this regard, every of these nations are marked by protracted armed conflict for many years. In the Global North, in particular, countries tend to close their borders and prevent access to international protection, thus undermining the efforts made by international law. International refugee law plays a vital role in the achievement of human rights to acquire protection from persecution (Long, 2013). Besides, other branches of international law are significant in recognizing the protection of migrants and worldwide human civil liberties bylaw and intercontinental unlawful regulation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this special issue provides a suitable platform for addressing the critical legal problems associated with refugees and international law. Therefore, international human rights law can be applied to facilitate the protection of refugees. Nevertheless, international criminal law can be used and interpreted to realize refugee protection and not compromised.
