Transportation faces the biggest challenge in terms of the need for and availability of safety measures to keep the sector free of accidents and mishaps. The transport sector faces the challenge of accidents which bring in the possibility of loss of lives and property (Janušová & Cicmancová, 2016). Therefore, this means that the modes of transport used have to be checked for having met the requirements of the safety standards, so that in as much as the possibility of accidents is there, the possibility of the accidents happening on account of the lack of meeting safety standards will be reduced, and that of increasing the confidence of those using the means will be increased too.

Recently, the need for physical safety of the passengers while on the means of transport has been discussed, especially concerning the possibility of the passengers being harmed by people aboard the transportation systems. The rise of the scourge of terrorism has increased the need for the transportation system to be enhanced with safety measures to avoid the possibility of the means of transport being targeted by the terrorist attacks, causing loss of property and lives of the passengers aboard the vessels (Batarliene, 2020).

Therefore, this means that the people in charge of transportation globally have to invest in serious security measures which will lead to the reduction of the danger which the transportation sector faces from the existence of malicious individuals who can bring grievous danger to the transportation sector to make their cases known. the investments and additions to be made in the transport sector include the use of increased surveillance and investigation skills to help in detecting the possibility of crime occurring and averting the events before the dangers can be felt.

There is also the rise in the possibility of insecurity coming from the increased dependence of the transportation system on technology, the use of technology creates the need for the stakeholders in the transportation sector to ensure that the possibility of the transportation network being grounded due to the technology in use being used against them to bring destruction and damage to the economies which depend on the transportation network under attack (Morrow & Coplen, 2017).

The use of technology in the transportation systems opens up the possibility of the means of transport being hacked, since they will use the same networks used by the transportation system to manipulate the people operating them to meet their demands. Additionally, terrorists can also use the same hacking techniques to take control of the means of transport and in the process cause harm to the people and cargo on the means of transport.

Additionally, health concerns have to be considered when setting up a transportation network. In the rise of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for setting up the systems of transportation in a manner that provides little chances of overcrowding is crucial. There is also need for the transportation systems to set up facilities in which people suffering from emergency medical conditions can be taken care of, hence saving their lives in the process. There should be ways through which people suffering from medical emergencies such as heart attacks or childbirth can be taken care of without the means of transport stopping (Goodrich & Edwards, 2017). This will create an increased possibility of the patients getting the emergency services they need, while also being taken to the healthcare facilities where they will receive comprehensive care.
