After having a social gathering with my family members we faced a very debatable moment where my dad planned purchase of an extremely expensive vehicle. I found this plan to be very challenging since I was enrolled in a master’s program and I required a lump sum of funds to cater for my tuition fee. My sister had just won matriculation to the University of Pennsylvania to study a doctorate of engineering.

My father had made his decision considering the short term benefits that the car may have foregoing the long term outcome that our education possessed. This decision seemed to be very awkward to me since the money that could be spent for luxurious purposes could otherwise be invested in education for future benefits.

I evaluated the situation meticulously and I openly confronted my father proving to him that the value of education surpasses a luxurious life by a significant degree. We could be educated and still purchase for our dad a luxurious vehicle. If my father had an objection to that, I advised him that he could borrow a loan to fulfil his luxurious desires and still fund our education.

The decision of prioritizing the purchase of a new vehicle could jeopardize our education. We could lack the necessary fee to access quality and advanced education. On the other hand, funding education will be a prudent decision since education does not degrade in value as compared to the vehicle.

I can assertively affirm that long terms needs should be satisfied before the short term needs. Delayed gratification is very substantial and it has phenomena outcomes. Nurturing education ensures future investment and thus the tertiary needs can be achieved. My decision was very valid and considerate since it thorough examination of the options and implementation of an effective strategy.
