The Americans claim that china has been copying the technological advancement in their country, but the image is changing. China's rise in technology has been tarnished by the allegation of intellectual property thefts and says the country technology companies are copyright to those in the United States (Veugelers, 2017). For example, the Silicon Valley technological company looked down on china technology and believed that it was copying its products. Still, China is innovating more on technology and getting ahead of Silicon Valley Company (Veugelers, 2017). Companies worldwide are relying on emerging technologies to manage their businesses, drive innovation, and increase competitive advantage. The aim of this paper is to describe the technology and how does it work benefits and problems associated with technology.
Technology is the application and use of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of changing human life (Ghosh, 2019). It encompasses the use of tools, materials, and techniques to make work more accessible and more productive. Technology enhances storage, processing, and information flow within the company or organization. Modern companies and organizations depend on technology to improve the flow of information for database management.
Technology makes work more accessible in companies, and it creates new jobs, such as web designers (Huffman & McCluskey, 2017). For example, electronic file technology speeds up workflow in companies that saves time and paperwork. Many companies today use technology to improve customer relationships. Technology in business helps the companies to improve the performance and business effectiveness of products and services, which enables the business to proliferate (Huffman & McCluskey, 2017). For example, china's investment in new emerging technology has enabled the country to be leading to economic growth and technological advancement in the world.
Technology can address problems related to fast task completion, content discovery, and lower administration costs in business (Neary, Horak, Kovacova, & Valaskova, 2018). For example, through the use of search engines, such as Google, the employees in companies are more knowledgeable. They can use spreadsheet software to track expenses, sales, and productivity. Technology can address problems, such as eradicating hunger through genetic engineering and farm inputs, which will allow farmers to grow crops cheaply, which means more affordable food sources. It can provide cheap healthcare services with new emerging technologies in healthcare. The healthcare innovators are researching new technologies that will improve health care services and the monitoring of heart diseases (Neary et al., 2018). Technology has facilitated equal access to resources, such as Facebook and Google services.
The business and consumer have adapted to emerging technology to improve the flow of information in various departments in the organization and to meet consumer's needs (Plans, 2019). With the evolution of platform systems, such as sales desk and social platforms, it has enhanced the active engagement of companies and customers. Consumers who use the social platform get quick responses compared to letters and have allowed reducing the bridge between consumers and businesses. Technology enables the business to improve customer targeting through advertising and marketing to display new products in companies and organizations. Consumers use technology to search for new products in the market needs (Plans, 2019).
The challenges and barriers to the adoption of technology are non-sustained leadership support, employee resistance, weak motivation to change, and ineffective communication (Oseni, Dingley & Hart, 2018). The employee may be resistant to new technology in the organization due to a lack of awareness and fear of losing their jobs, which slows the technology adoption. Many managers in organizations believe that getting the message out of the audience is more convenient than the use of technology to pass a message; hence many industries invest in top-down communication that hinders the adoption of new technology (Oseni, Dingley & Hart, 2018).
The challenges and barriers to the adoption of technology can be solved by encouraging leaders in the business that eradicating old systems of communication and focus on high- value technological services increase efficiency and reduce operating costs (Sinsel, Riemke & Hoffmann, 2020). The employee should be trained on the new technology to overcome the fear of losing their jobs that increase their resistance to new technology. The managers should demonstrate their willingness to the adoption of new technology in the organization.
The social benefit of technology is it enables old friends to reconnect through social networking. In a society where people have become mobile and family and friends are separated, it is easy to keep in touch through social networking technology (Sinsel, Riemke & Hoffmann, 2020). It creates meaningful relationships in life by sharing photos and videos. Technology overcomes the sense of isolation in the communities. For example, someone can find a friend online with the same hobbies and interests, and they will be able to share their passion freely. The risk associated with technology includes loss of family ties, loss of jobs, internet addictions, and divorce (Sinsel, Riemke & Hoffmann, 2020). Employees can lose their jobs when caught using office equipment to catch up with their friends online because it undermines the individual's professional standing.
