Introduction
In the 21st century, most healthcare institutions have adopted the use of information and technologies (ICTs) to deliver health services to the patients. Through the use of these technologies nurses can plan, convey documents and appraise clinical care. As such the nursing schools ought to adopt and incorporate technology in their curriculum to gift nurses the knowledge and skills to operate in all healthcare institutions irrespective of the type of systems used(Ellenbecker, 2010). The new technology should be able to cover the student's needs such as ; the knowledge students need to attain, skills that they must develop and the techniques they need to master most. ( Brett et al., 2010).This paper will tend to provide an articulate description of the new educational technology in an organisation. It will also bring to light how the proposed technology will impact the organisation's vision, mission, values and goals and still stating the importance of these technological changes. While even at it, the paper will examine the role of these technologies in the nursing processes, staff performance and patient outcomes.
Proposed Learning Management System
The Learning Management System has been submitted by the executive leaders to be the new software that the learning institution is planning to adopt. This idea will be a significant milestone since for the past century nurses educators had not embraced this kind of technology. The educators have to believe that they can cover all the contents nurses need in their career and concentrate on how students can acquire and will enable users to apply new information when they need it. (Brett et al., 2010)
In the past, nursing education rotated around live classroom discussion and too much paperwork that is very hard to keep track of all the paperwork. With the LMS, it is just an online podium that will enhance faster delivery of content and allow nurses to administer, track and come up with reports centred on training causes. (Macario et al., 2010). The hospitals using the LMS will easily involve new nurses and still have a continued curriculum for the workforce such that they will always be reminded on skills The well planned LMS will enable use of various resources such that the method to be used will highly depend on factors such as content to be taught and network resources available. Learning plans can be made within patterns such as cognitive that includes simulation or behaviourist such as practice. LMS is an excellent method of e-learning that is both flexible fo the nurses and useful for the institution not forgetting the excellent patient outcomes.
Impact on the Organisation
The institution will also highly benefit from the new technology since the cost of management will decrease. Price on material printing and reserving classes and paying tutors to lecture reduces too. (Macario et al., 2010). It will be easy for the organisation to monitor the student's aggregate grades every time hence ensuring order and delivering qualified professionals in their areas of expertise. On the negative side, the initial cost of installing the system is very high and requires experts. Therefore the organisation's expenses shoot at the time. (Macario et al., 2010)
Impact on Educators
The adoption of LMS in the learning will make it easy for the educators to get teaching materials and still can reassign the questions on the texts while they can even comfortably exchange course materials with the colleagues. (Macario et al., 2010). The new technology will make save the educator's time and energy
Impact on Patient Outcomes
It is simple; the new technology will automatically give birth to a breed of qualified, efficient and empowered nurses who will automatically provide services with the same energy to patients. The patient will receive valuable services and professional treatment. With the new technology that trains nurses on data collection of patients, it will improve the patient's safety and care. (Linnen, 2016). The new technology will also save time for the nurses hence will commit to the client while still ensuring that the patient stays in a clean environment.
Impact on the Nurses
The LMS is an excellent convenience since the nurses will be able to access the information I the portal 24/7. Most hospitals offer both external and internal ports; thus nurses can complete their courses at their own pace with no location limitation at all. In short, it lets the students to time shift and place shift. (Macario et al., 2010).With the LMS offering more content, the nurses can seek even more resources. The LMS also provides the nurse's chances to interact with virtual clients online; hence they get equipped with practical skills. LMS also improves their education experience.
The disadvantage with the new technology is that the nurses will initially require a lot of guidance and help to operate since it is something new they have not been used to. It will take time for them to adopt. (Macario et al., 2010).
Conclusion
It is evident that once the incorporation of technology in health education sees through qualified nurses who are innovative and has critical thinking, it is a win to the health sector. The trained nurses will train future nurses; hence it will become a culture in the health industry. Excellent patient services will be offered, and quality education will be delivered while still making it very easy to study nursing
