They are not ready to take into account the needs and emotions of others. However, developing a sense of empathy is a significant development process for children. It will benefit young children in both their childhood and adulthood lives. Building an understanding of what other individuals are encountering, how their deeds can influence others, and reasons for them experiencing feelings at a particular moment is a valuable life skill for children to have. It is recommended that individuals assist young children in developing a strong sense of empathy (Geiger et al., 2016). First, when children develop empathy, they will be able to build a sense of security and strong relationships with other children and guardians, positioning them for learning. Second, it is important to assist children to develop empathy because it will encourage tolerance and acceptance of others. Third, it is vital to help children to develop empathy as it will improve mental health. Lastly, it will be easy for children to promote social harmony and can decrease the probability of bullying after developing empathy. Developing empathy is a significant building block in the capability of the child to regulate their emotions, and it plays a vital role in adapting and succeeding in a dynamic world (de Minzi et al., 2016). As explained, empathy is substantial because it will help the children to understand how they can react suitably to the circumstance.
