Introduction
Health care is outlined as the administration of health-related medicines and vaccines to patients who have been diagnosed to be suffering from various diseases by the health designed facilities. Hospitals are the designed health facility, whether private or public, where cure and prevention of diseases are done. This paper, therefore, aims at strategies on how to improve the efficiency of health care systems.
What should (can) senior health policymakers do to improve the efficiency of the overall healthcare system?
Clinical officers and professional doctors play a vital role in helping patients in hospitals recover from illnesses by administering drugs to them. The smooth operations of their work get regulated by some of the laws relating to their field. There are thus some of the ways in which the senior health policymakers can do to improve the efficiency of the overall healthcare system.
One of the ways in which the senior health policymakers can do to improve the efficiency of the overall healthcare system is through the improvement of access to health operations and healthcare facilities (Bernabeo & Holmboe, 2013). Also, health policymakers can involve themselves in attempts to get the primary data and interpreting their results. Joining other departmental organizations and joining the hands at the discussion of matters affecting health sectors and setting mitigating measures is another important way. Moreover, seeking goals and strategies that will boost the health sector and involving members of the public participate in the research of health cures is another significant way (Porter, & Lee, 2013).
What can individual healthcare professionals do to improve the operational efficiency of their own organizations?
The individual healthcare professionals should aim at reducing the time that patients spent while queuing in hospitals so that they can be served faster. They can also increase the bed capacity in hospitals so that many patients can be attended to and spearheading the creation of emergency departments so that when there is a case of illness, patients are attended faster (Milat et al. 2013). The individual healthcare professionals should also seek to team up with some known retail clinics and partnering up with organizations with professional clinical officers. Establishing insurance cover on patients, which help lower their cost, is also an important way in which the individual healthcare professionals can do to improve the operational efficiency of their own organizations.
Conclusion
In summary, both the senior healthcare policymakers and the individual healthcare professional should be at the forefront to ensure the improvement of the operations in various healthcare sectors. They may, however, face barriers in various health departments that will hinder their efforts, but their struggles will ever be paramount for the achievement of improved healthcare.
