As indicated in the New York Times, the number of infections in the United States has reached 300 with most of its diseases centered across significant states such as Washington ("Coronavirus Live Updates: Cases in the U.S. Break 300" n.p). Florida is the only state along the East Coast that has recorded infections of the deadly virus. One of the major concerns highlighted in the article is the fewer number of testing kits that hamper effective testing of the virus. In New York, for instance, the city heads fear that the virus could be spreading and may have affected more people than it has been recorded.

With the rising numbers of new infections and deaths due to the coronavirus, precautions are required, and governments need to be wholly prepared in the event of an outbreak. In the United States, for instance, all flights and travelers from China have been stopped. In consequence, this has mostly contributed to a steep decline in the economy and stocks of the affected nations. Most economies are witnessing slowed or negative growth due to the rapid spread of the virus. Thus, the article discussed, 'Coronavirus Outbreak' sheds light on the state of nations after the discovery and spread of the virus.

Graphical Element Analysis

In the article, 'Coronavirus Outbreak,' the graphical element frequently used is the use of headlines and excerpts ("Coronavirus Live Updates: Cases in the U.S. Break 300" n.p). The use of captions and quotations gives a reader a brief overview of what they will read in a particular section. In most cases, this acts as a determinant of whether a reader will read a part of a news article based on their interests. One of the examples of a headline or excerpts used in the report includes, 'Everyone on the Grand Princess Ship will be tested after 21 tests positive.' The headline already tells an individual that 21 people aboard the ship tested positive for the virus, which warranted test measures on every individual on the boat. How Multiple Methods Could Strengthen or Weaken Explanatory Writing

Multiple methods could strengthen explanatory writing since a person will understand a topic and the content of information written. It also indicated the order within which a piece of data will be written. However, it could weaken explanatory writing through repetition that could, in turn, confuse readers.
