Children from poor families or neighborhoods are more likely to suffer serious health problems than other children. They are likely to suffer from low birth weights, higher rate of hospitalizations, growth problems and developmental delays. Further, the poor housing quality and the exposure to the secondhand smoke considerably contributes to the increased incidences of chronic diseases such as Asthma. Poor nutrition will further contribute to obesity and high blood pressure.

Immunization helps protect individuals and their families from diseases. It works by causing a trigger on the immune systems to fight against certain diseases. Moreover, it helps control diseases within the community.

Yes, it is important for children to be vaccinated before being admitted to school. Various communicable disease may be present within the learning environment and therefore vaccination may help protect and control the diseases.

If you had a child who was immune compromised, or perhaps had leukemia would you want the children around him to be vaccinated so as not to get your child sick? Explain

Vaccination helps to protect individuals from contacting diseases from their surroundings. However, not all diseases are vaccinated against. Only those that are communicable are vaccinated. A compromised immune or leukemia is not communicable and does not call for immunization in order to protect other children.

Based on the recent shootings in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Lafayette, Louisiana, and Los Angeles, California as well as past shootings in Colorado and Sandy Hook elementary school, what are some of the issues associated with all of these shootings?

Some of the shooting in this case are related to issues such as religious and racial instigation factors. In most cases, the shootings usually occur and directed towards a given group of people. In the case of Chattanooga, the attack was associated with the ISIL activities sin the United States.

As nurses, how might these shootings impact us? How might we affect social change that could prevent another public shooting?

Nurses play crucial role in preventing the mass shootings as observed in the past. The shooting can influence their disaster preparedness and response mechanisms in order to ensure that the victims of attacks are treated and supported throughout the period of their state.
