In the today's world, it is clear that the roles of the women have dramatically changed over the past years. There has been an outstanding revolution in the life and roles of a woman. In the olden days, the woman regarded as an object of the man, where a man would take advantage over her, abuse her, and harass her in many ways because the man saw himself as more superior than the woman. The recent report shows that the roles of the woman have changed and she can now be able to live an independent life with or without the help of a man. The functions of the woman have changed where she no longer needs the man's financial support for her to survive. The present woman can be able to be a breadwinner for herself and also act as a homemaker. The change in the role of the women has significantly impacted the society as the women can bring changes in the lives of other peoples. Unlike in the earlier days when the woman was regarded as subjects of man their roles have changed and can fight for their rights bravely enough as they are entitled to proper education.

According to (Lind, 138) trifles, an example of the olden day's drama. The female characters represent the role of the women in that society. During this moment the males are blinded and didn't have a say as they had a different attitude toward the women. In the play after the wife has murdered Mr. Wright. The women's in the game works hard to find investigations on the cause of his death. They work together to have transparent research on the mysterious deaths of men. By that moment the woman is being regarded as a caged bird and was not supposed to be associated with the men in the investigation. The men are biased in believing that their research could not add up anything, and nothing could be in the house of Minnie who is, in this case, the killer of her husband. The men in this society regard the women as people of less importance, and hence men would not associate themselves with the woman. In the end, the woman can find the killer who is Minnie by finding his husband body in her sewing basket. The pay shows the great division which existed between the psychological of the male and females in the social roles. Both the men and woman have a different perspective toward Minnie who killed her husband. In the play, the men seem to be ignorant and able to cope with their loneliness, on the other hand, the women have the sense of community in doing things even though they are unable to deal with their loneliness. After the women finding out that Minnie was responsible for the death of her husband, they decide to keep quiet so that she may not be found guilty if her actions. The women presume that the husband abused her making her kill him. It is a clear indication that the women abusement by their husbands and hence wanted to show a sense of unity in helping each other. (William, 100)

The roles of the women have changed, in Nottage play we see women portrayed as people who are determined to work hard to make their lives better. Esther is a decent case of a woman who understands her roles, she is intelligent and talented in sewing, but she is not able to deal with her loneliness. As a result, she decides to search for a male friend who can marry her. George Armstrong the man who marries her pretends to be a good man, but he is only interested in absconding her savings. The play Nottage shows how the woman was affected by loneliness despite her having everything to live alone she seems to be in need of a male to marry her.

Other than being lonely the roles of the woman accurately reflect the positions of the woman in the society today. A woman is a person who works hard to liberate her life; she is seen as an instrument to bring changes the community today. In the play of poof, we see a housewife who is mistreated and abused by her husband, but she eventually comes to the end of the rope and decides to reclaim her life back. In the last play Susan, after a sailor leaves her wife to go to another country the landlord is mistreating the wife, and he harasses her (Jaquete, 6). The role of the women in these plays is a clear indication of the functions of the women in the society at large.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it's clear the roles of the women have tremendously changed. The woman gender is the source of change in the society. In the plays the woman has evolved from being dependent of the men and worked hard to make her life better she realizes that she can still make it in life without depending on the men who act to mistreat and abuse the women. The roles of the women have changed as she can claim back her life again after a moment of distress.
