Introduction
Coronavirus is now a global issue more than a national problem. All countries are doing what they can to flatten the curve of this virus spread. This paper outlines policies and solutions that have been derived by the federal, state, and local governments, other countries, and the private sector in the fight against COVID-19.
The US government is ramping up mass testing among its populations. The national government health directives are actively involving in elective medical approaches and probably effective health policies in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic (Bradford et al., 2020). In line with this, the federal government has passed restrictions governing public gatherings to ten people. Stay at home orders apply for all citizens unless one is venturing outside for essential errands and jobs. The states have issued mandatory regulations for school and business closures. A state like Alaska announced the closure of all state-operated archives, libraries, and museums as well as suspension of all boarding student programs (Al Jazeera, 2020). Also, local governments such as the capital Anchorage passed a regulation to have all bars, eateries, and public places closed with food trucks and staple food establishments allowed to operate on a condition to offer only takeout services.
Other governments have implemented a range of actions to contain the spread of the virus. Policies include movement restrictions, social distancing rules, standards regarding the closure of businesses, and non-essential shops ("Policy Responses to COVID19", 2020). People are "forced" to stay at home with movement allowed for only limited reasons such as shopping for basic food. The private sector, from Alibaba to Amazon, among other big names in the world of business, is helping solve the coronavirus issue by offering medical help as well as cash donations to cushion the low-income families. For instance, through his foundation, Jack Ma, the Chinese billionaire, is offering protective masks, shields, and suits to different countries across the world (Fleming, 2020). Distillers and brewers are also engaging in gifting hand sanitizers to citizens for free. According to Tognini (2020), others are offering rubber gloves, ventilators, and related diagnostic tools.
Conclusion
In conclusion, policies are increasing every day regarding the cure and control of COVID-19. It is commendable that both public and private bodies are putting hands together in the fight against the pandemic.
