Introduction

Clinical significance refers to the ability of a researcher or treatment process to assist a patient to get back to their normal functioning when initially they were in a dysfunctional state. It is expected that the treatment activities done on a patient will develop the desired results with a patient managing to post positive outcomes when they are subjected to a particular form of treatment. The psychotherapy techniques efficacy was only determined through relying on the statistical significance ratings though the scholars discovered that there was something that was missing. They could not prove that the treatments were offering the desired results (Jakobsen et al., 2014). A treatment process is said to be statistically significant if the outcome’s likelihood due to chances is less than 5%. It is an indication that 95% of the healing in a patient resulted from the treatment process that they received. The clinical significance is analyzed based on the determination of whether the psychotherapy failed or managed to realize the aims set at the start of the therapy process (Gehlert et al., 2017). For example, it might be possible that a patient was getting treatment for depression, schizophrenia, or anxiety, and they managed to get back to their normal functioning.

Statistical significance is a platform that shows the relationship or the differences that exist between variables without any chance that the effect was triggered by chance or normal variation. It relies on probability value (p-value) to show the randomness value on the occurrence of a given result happening and not the variables that may exist between the components (Heavey, 2015). When involved in the evidence-based research process, a researcher should ensure that the clinical significance is determined after the statistical significance. The clinical process is a subjective evaluation, and a single experiential test is not adequate to establish it.

The clinical significance concept can be utilized in the realization of positive outcomes where there is a consideration that the results obtained are statistically significant. It is important to note that most of the findings that are regarded as being statically significant most of the time, they tend to have clinical significance (Page, 2014).

In conclusion, the clinical significance procedure is critical to human beings, for it enables them to get back to their normal functioning when their bodies are sick. The statistical significance of the treatment process is realized when a treatment process is stated to have a 95% likelihood of realizing the desired outcome. A positive outcome in a treatment process can be obtained when there is an understanding that the process is statistically significant.
