Cancer has proven to be a disease that has called for immediate concern. The cause of cancer remains unknown to many, but researchers have given suggestions concerning the possible causes of the disease. Breast cancer, in particular, is one of the cancers that have left fears in women. Many of them are worried about the possibilities of developing this type of cancer. To deal with the breast cancer; therefore; a prevention program has to be come up with. The program should major on the leading causes of breast cancer so that women would become careful about the matters that may lead them to develop the disease.
Screening is a prevention program that is the best for breast cancer. It is one of the primary prevention programs that comprises of the risk reduction and health promotion in the population of women. This will ensure that invasive cancer is less developed. Screening ensures early detection of breast cancer. This will thus ensure that the cancer is found earlier at the most treatable stage. The research shows that at an advanced stage, breast cancer brings a lot of complication; hence screening should be well exercise among women to detect the disease (Mina et al. 2016). In this prevention program, I will involve IBM model which is a theoretical model applied to improve healthy behavior in several diseases. The model has assisted in explaining and promoting adherence to functional exercise. I, therefore, consider the IBM model as the most suitable and will use it in this program.
There exist some methods of breast cancer screening test that includes, Mammogram, MRI (Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Thermography and self-examination test. Mammography is the primary means where it involves passing X-ray radiation through the breast of a woman. The test produces an image on a film showing the results. This kind of screening is important as it identifies the malignant tumors that are usually hard to be felt by hand. The routinely self-examination test is done by a doctor where he or she will feel your breast below the arms to check for lumps, and any unusual things developed. In addition, the breast self-exam may also be done by women themselves to check for such unusual changes. If a woman notices lumps and other changes, she is expected to report to the doctors for further examinations. Women are therefore advice to have routine screening test as it identifies breast cancer at early stages that are most treatable.
