Introduction
Healthcare remains one of the most significant areas that individuals need to pay more attention to. Provision of better and affordable healthcare to society is one of the goals by the government and health institutions to ensure that the welfare of society is taken good care. Health assessment refers to the process of evaluating the type of healthcare that is administered to the people. This entails looking at factors like the availability of medicine in hospitals, machinery, and having the right personnel to undertake these activities.
On the other hand, physical examination entails looking at the individual's health condition by the practitioners to ascertain their health performance. This can be done to establish their state of health in society and propose the type of treatment that they need. Health assessment and physical examination are forms of health promotion that are intended to improve the healthcare of society.
Literature Review
Health issues remain critical issues in society that still need improvement in a number of ways. Promoting health is one way of improving the welfare of the society hence making it easier to access proper healthcare from the health facilities. Challenges facing the health sector may be countered through health promotion and research. Clinical issues are often considered to be against social justice because they can be avoided.
Notably, there are circumstances under which the clinical issues are beyond an individual's control and tend to be a disadvantage to the affected population. Clinical issues remain a world problem that is still in persistence despite the policies and strategies that global organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) are implementing in respective countries (Luvenny, 2014).
The disparities of Clinical issues differ across countries depending on the level of the economy and the income levels of individuals. Patient safety is quite significant as it prevents several dangers that patients face while they are still undergoing treatment. Clinical issues have been termed as health disparities that patients are facing considering that not every individual or country can afford quality healthcare where their safety is guaranteed.
Research conducted by the WHO indicates that there exist health inequalities around the world about the rate of infant mortality. For example, the organization ascertains that the risk of death in a baby between the period of birth and one year is 2 per every 1000 births in Iceland, whereas, in Mozambique, the risk of death is at 120 in every 1,000 births. This indicates that health inequalities arising from patient safety affect the unborn children leading to numerous deaths (Jarvis, 2016). The United States, which is among the developed nations around the world, is still facing several clinical issues among which patient safety is one of them. This research will explore the issue of patient safety and how nurses can have control and the affected population, proposed solution, barriers, and the benefits that are likely to arise.
There is a variety of different populations that health officials deal with that come from different backgrounds that are guided by specific cultures. The cultural backgrounds could have an influence on healthcare delivery depending on the beliefs that the population bears. In this case, the issue of patient safety cannot be influenced by any cultural values. It is because it remains a necessity that every patient needs to improve their health condition (Jarvis, 2016). Coming up with a long-term solution that will ensure that patient medication safety is guaranteed is very important.
Medication on patient safety could be impacted by offering training to the nurses on how they can help in improving safety on the patients. This will entail coming up with a platform in the organization that enables the management to take the nurses through a series of training that informs them on the areas that need safety most and how it can be put in place. Notably, nursing bodies have a significant role in ensuring that the issue of patient safety has been implemented. First, nurses need to be subjected to several seminars every year where they are equipped with the latest information in the sector on how to handle safety and increasing efficiency in the delivery of their services.
In the long-run, the goal is to ensure that no patient is put at risk and that every individual has access to proper healthcare services. Achieving the short-term and long-term goals will entail measuring the rates at which patient safety has improved during the two periods. These goals need to be tracked from time to time to ensure that there are no barriers in place that will prevent the achievement. The long-term goals need to be offered with all attention to prevent the concerned parties from being diverted from the goal (Jarvis, 2016).
On the other hand, the nurses are likely to improve on their skills, which is an essential aspect of their career. Equipping nurses with the right skills is one important issue that an organization should consider because it is one way of improving their effectiveness in their positions. The number of mortality rates will decrease as safety will be put in place. Patients will be able to get back to their daily duties to empower themselves economically (Jarvis, 2016). The workload at the hospital is likely to reduce because nurses will be dealing with their patients within the shortest time possible. In brief, investing in patient safety will benefit the whole stakeholders that depend on the health sector in the country. More focus needs to be put on this area to increase the number of benefits in the long-run.
Addressing Health Promotion
Health promotion in society is intended to improve the status of the healthcare of the people. In essence, there exist a number of challenges that are associated with poor healthcare administered to the people. This ranges from the low number of facilities to accommodate the rising population. For example, the ratio of doctors to the citizens needs to be improved to cover the existing deficit in the market.
The issue of cultural awareness is one that needs to be looked upon in societies (Lunney, 2014). This implies that people tend to have different opinions and beliefs that may act as barriers towards the achievement of better healthcare provision. For example, in some of the African communities, most of them have been barred by their cultures from accepting modern health ways. In this case, the level of civilization tends to be far much behind; hence most of these individuals fail to see the need for modern healthcare in their lives. The issues of age and gender need to be streamlined in healthcare to make it possible for every person regardless of any factor can have access to proper healthcare and medication.
Coming up with a diagnosis plan is key in ensuring that treatment is administered to the people in the best way ever. Diet is essential to an individual because it determines the state of his or her health condition. The type of food that we consume affects our health status, both positive and negative, depending on the preference of a person. It is important to note that nutrition does not only refer to the type of food that we consume but also the exercises that we undertake. It is essential to maintain a healthy living to avoid being affected by some health disorders that are brought about by poor dietary. Some organizations mainly deal with issues that concern nutrition, and the primary role of these institutions is to ensure that the code of ethics is observed in the industry (Lunney, 2014). This is a form of regulation that is there to make sure that the public is protected from exploitation, especially from individuals with self-interest in the industry. Therefore, there is a set of rules and regulations that are supposed to be followed to the latter by the dietary practitioners to ensure that the consumer is content with the nutrition goods and services provided. Members of the dietary associations are expected to adhere to the regulation and observe the code of ethics to avoid cases of misconduct in their field of profession. Governance and professionalism are the essential factors that should be taken care of in the nutrition and dietary industry.
As stated in the above introduction, governance of nutrition and dietary practice is all about the code of ethics that has been set up by the regulatory authorities. Governance refers to the overseeing of the activities that usually take place in the industry. However, the malpractices that have been prevalent in the industry have been a result of poor leadership that was there before hence giving individuals a chance to engage in such activities that are against the law (Jarvis, 2016).In recent, there has been the formation of some associations that have ensured that the nutrition and dietary are well regulated, and every qualified practitioner has been registered. This has assured that the members of the organization are enlightened on the required standards and code of ethics that they are supposed to observe as they undertake activities in line with their careers.
Some principles have been listed in helping to govern the nutrition dietary. The laws are supposed to be followed by every practitioner as they should be practiced. For example, one of the principles that should define a practitioner is honesty, integrity, and fairness (Jarvis, 2016). The body is expected to ensure that its members conduct themselves in line with the mentioned values. Professionalism is another value that should always be observed by the members. This is very important because it ensures that practitioners can relate to clients professionally. Also, they will as well ensure that they follow professionalism in their activities. Governance is associated with the responsibilities of both the practitioners and clients as well. Therefore, management in nutrition and dietary practice based on the ethics and principles that guide various bodies.
Professionalism is essential in a career as it ensures that the career holders can exhibit the highest skills whenever in office. This as well enhances how they relate to the clients and other workers at different levels. The relationship, as mentioned in the text, ensures that the parties engage in an interactive way that will guarantee that they can transact in the best way. Also, the inter-professional relationship ensures that the practitioners can familiarize themselves with the necessary skills on how to handle various cases that they are likely to encounter in their line of duty (Jarvis, 2016). Professionalism is greatly influenced by the level of education that a practitioner might have attained. This is evident because the higher the level of education, the higher the likelihood of having higher skills in professionalism as opposed to individuals that have lower education levels. In brief, an inter-professional relationship is vital for dietary practitioners as it influences how they relate to other people in practice.
Teaching Plan
The above information is critical to nurses as it will aid them in the delivery of efficient and quality services to the public. Most of them will be able to understand some of the common challenges that they are facing and, in turn, come up with a way to offer a long-term solution to the same. It is essential to consider the patient safety teaching plan to improve how patients are handled. This will as well provide patients with knowledge and information that they require to remain safe. For example, the issue of diagnosis can be related to patient safety, as many patients...
