My name is xxx and I am a paraprofessional. I have been working in elementary school, but currently am looking for a position of teaching students at grade five to nine. I hereby submit my admission application of a graduate master's program in teaching literature education to middle children and the adolescent. My vast knowledge of teaching, alongside my strong communication skills and leadership skills, makes me a leading candidate in this program.
Areas among which I have highly excelled in are; computer skills, problem-solving, and teaching. Through my past experience as a teacher in elementary school, I am sure it has enabled me to hone my teaching skills. Thus, it has helped me to have a strong relationship with students and am able to handle all the challenges that occur in the teaching field. Also, I am currently a paraprofessional; thus, I have a good experience being in the classroom.
Apart from being a teacher, I also give or provide advices to the students so that they can focus on learning. Most of the learners who normally concentrate more on their learning highly improve on their performance. Thus, if given this opportunity, I am sure my skills and capability will help most of the students of grade five up to grade nine in their academic performance.
Changing careers has helped me to be exposed to my areas, and I have learned a lot about how to be persistent in this life. Most of the students fail in their classwork, and some even drop out of school due to challenges. Although some of the challenges can be managed, many view them as a burden and no one they can share with due to frustrations which might occur. I have dealt with many different cases of these challenges in elementary school, and I have handled the issues with care preventing the affected students from being affected physically or emotionally. Thus, preventing them from dropping out of school. This makes me a leading candidate as I will be in a position of helping the students to persist in their learning even if they are facing challenges.
On the other hand, I have also experienced some challenges in my teaching career, but I have been able to conquer them. Many people think that teacher's life is always smooth, but I think in this career there are a lot of challenges as compared to others. Some of the problems that I was able to handle are; student's excuses and a lot of arguments in case they have not done the assignments. In this case, I would ensure I have full information as to why the student is not working on his or her homework. Then after that, I would be able to know which step am expected to take. Another challenge is, sometimes I would lack enough time to complete the syllabus as it has been planned by the school management. In this case, I would save time and teach either early in the morning or late in the evening. Thus, completing the syllabus on time before the students sit for their exams.
In conclusion, I am sure that my experience and skills will help me to bring changes in teaching this group of students. Thus, this will be a benefit to the school as well as the students or children because their academic performance will improve. I am ready to perform any duty as an English teacher who is concentrating on literature. Although I am sure other challenges will occur, disciplining the students is the key. As from what I know, not all students are normally respectful or mannered.
