This article primarily focuses on electronic schoolbags which have been used by students and instructors as a tool for achieving smart learning environment. The information in the log file can be used in supporting modeling and analysis of learners, which ensures there is personalized and adaptive learning. This article has a strength in the way it identifies the gaps in the study of the relationship between motivational factors and the learning achievement of students when using eSchoolbag in learning English. The thesis of this article is the examination of the effects of the academic motivation of students in English achievement utilizing the environment of eSchoolbag. A significant weakness of the report is the limited number of participants in the experimental studies. This could result in incidents of biases.

The thesis of this article is to provide an analysis of the different means in which choice offered to students in a learning environment and when a decision is found to be motivating or not. This project answers the question of the relationship between the selection of academics for a student of grade 9 and the motivation levels. This article has significant strength, in that it uses direct speech, from the first person perspective. This makes the information which is provided to be legitimate and verified. It also offers the whole concept of motivation and academic performances in Alberta, and how to address it. This can be applied in any learning environment to formulate and implement changes.

Wells, Rossano S. The impact of motivation on academic success: using the imposter phenomenon to understand the experiences of a selected group in a 'black'higher education institution. Diss. University of Zululand, 2011.

This study analyses the role of motivation on academic success through the use of the impostor phenomenon to comprehend the experiences of a chosen group in Black Higher Education institution. This article has a significant advantage given that there is the use of questionnaires, observed research participants, and interviews. This makes the research more successful. This article has introduced the topic, defined the key terms. I do not like the fact that there is no connection between the past and present study on the subject.

RITHO, ROBINSON. "THE INFLUENCE OF STUDENT MOTIVATION ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN DAGORETI SUB COUNTY, NAIROBI, Kenya."

The importance of this article is that it introduces the idea of comparisons of different states and how the motivational levels of students change in different countries. This is a critical approach towards understanding the underlying concept of student performance and motivational levels.

Choi, Yool. The Educational Expansion and Persistent Inequality: The Effects of Extra-Curricular Activities on Educational and Labor Market Outcomes. U of California, Los Angeles, 2015.

This article establishes that social stratification and sociology researchers are concerned with matters of inequality of education which are essential towards the realization of social mobility. This article expresses the importance of education in the current world, especially for the attainment of the social movement. This paper examines the role of extra-curricular activities on the results of labor markets and education. I like the fact that this paper handles the importance of motivation on academic achievement through an emphasis on extra-curricular activities. Students receive motivation from these types of events. However, it is too detailed of a reader to understand the connection between these activities and motivations of a student.

De La Rue, Lisa A., et al. "Impact of Violence Exposure on Academic Motivation for College Students." PsycEXTRA Dataset,

This article by Lisa focuses on the impact of violence such as bullying in schools, discrimination, sexual harassment and even victimization impact the academic performances of students. These activities have an effect of influencing the self-esteem and confidence levels of pupils which results in the decline in their motivations. I like the fact that the article identifies factors which contribute to declining in motivations for students. I do not like the fact that the paper is too detailed for any reader to understand because some people do not necessarily know meanings of some terms used throughout the article.

Graham, Sandra. "Inferences about Responsibility and Values: Implication for Academic Motivation." Student Motivation, 2001, pp. 31-59.

This book analyses the programs which have been undertaken in shedding light on the patterns of achievement among the minority youth. They take on the perspectives of motivational factors. The principal focus of this research is the African American youth. I like the fact that this article addresses the African American youth because they are the most vulnerable group to be affected by incidents of discrimination and harassment which might affect their motivational levels. I also like the fact that the author includes a multiethnic perspective in analyzing the impacts of motivational factors in the lives of students. I do not like the fact that the paper focuses solely on Americans because other countries are also affected by this phenomenon. There should be cross-country comparisons on how they address this topic.

Nguyen, Chantie, and Zhe Wang. "Can academic achievement predict motivation?" PsycEXTRA Dataset,

The authors of this article analyze the determinant factors of motivation in a school setting. The critical central argument is that the performances of a student in an academic environment are good determinants of levels of motivations. This means that one who does not perform well in academics is not motivated. I like the fact that motivation is connected to academic performance which forms the critical answer to the topic of discussion. I am not in support, however, of the fact that motivation is only connected to academic achievement. Some students are highly motivated, but this does not translate into their academic performances.

Nilsen, Trude, and Jan-Eric Gustafsson. Teacher Quality, Instructional Quality, and Student Outcomes: Relationships across Countries, Cohorts and Time. 2016.

This study uses five different studies for the examination of the various opinions which are connected to the quality of teachers, their instructions and the results of their teachings for students. I like the fact that this study involves five studies and it includes almost every participant from the whole school environment. Key factors such as the environment are tackled and how they influence the performances of students. Although it is not inferred directly, these factors are directly connected to motivations of students. The lack of direct relationship between the variables is a significant disadvantage of this article. Its main argument is that the quality of teachers' instructions has an impact ton mutational levels of students which affect overall school performances.

Padayas, Anil. "A study of the work experience commitments and academic achievements of high school students."

The authors of this article analyze the relationship between commitment to work part-time and the academic performances of students in high schools. The research has a significant advantage because it starts the focus on the topic of discussion from a historical perspective. It indicates that previous research has focused on the effect of working part-time on the achievement of students. The author also identifies factors which have led to the decline of the motivation of students which forces them to drop out of school and look for work. The identified factors included economic conditions. I think I agree with every detail of this study, from its organization, participants to the presentation of ideas. It is easy to understand.

Rudranath, Polampati G. "Impact of Self-Concept and Achievement Motivation on Academic Achievements of MBA Students: An Empirical Analysis." Prabandhan: Indian Journal of Management, vol. 6, no. 10, 2013, p. 36.

This article focuses on the investigation of self-concept and achievement motivation in connection with academic achievement among students of management. I like the fact that this paper correctly defines the terms which are used such as self-concept and academic motivation. Self-concept deals with the perception of an individual in connection with the characteristics such as gender roles, academics, personality, abilities, and skills. The author shows the means of measuring academic achievement which is through continuous assessments or examinations. Any reader who did not know this type of evaluations is better placed to know about it after reading this article. I do not like the fact that this paper does not identify the limitations to this study because any study involving the gathering of data must have boundaries.

Terzian, Garin. "The relationship between academic self-concept and the academic motivation of Lebanese learning disabled students. (c2015)."

The authors of this article introduce self-concept in the context of Lebanese students who have disabilities compared to those who do not have a disability. This article argues that there is a close relationship between academic motivations an academic self-concept. I like the fact that the results of this study indicate both the negative and positive aspects. I do not like the fact that this research focuses on people with disability only in Lebanon. It could have been non-biased has it focused on people with disability from different countries.

Kusurkar, R. A., et al. "How motivation affects academic performance: a structural equation modelling analysis." Advances in Health Sciences Education, vol. 18, no. 1, 2012, pp. 57-69.

This study indicates that there are few studies which have assessed the impact of motivation on performance. This study takes on a medical approach, but it is also applicable to academic situations. I like this article because it uses the theory of self-determination to explain motivations. The authors also identify different motivation types as controlled and autonomous motivation. This article argues that motivation has a positive influence on academic performance.

Ayodele, Oluwatayo James. "Self-concept and performance of secondary school students in mathematics." Journal of Educational and Developmental Psychology 1.1 (2011): 176.

The study involved 320 students from 16 secondary schools in Ekiti State. The results indicated that self-concept is related to mathematical performances. A significant strength of this article is that it provides a recommendation on what teachers should do. That teacher should develop a positive self-concept in their students towards mathematics. Also, it suggests the need for pleasant teaching experiences for better performances and self-concept in mathematics.
