The book has five chapters that concentrate on the effect of technology in E-learning and distance education in the last ten years. Chapter two of the book focuses on the web-based learning as the major factor that has contributed to distance and work-based learning. Chapter four looks at focuses on other technological gadgets such TV radio, print, and audio cassettes and their importance in learning among the children.

This study looks at the widespread of the internet technologies and the web in post-secondary education that has become a common thing over the last 15 years. Using the materials that were created by the national survey of student engagement, the authors used the multiple regression and hierarchical linear model to examine the effect of web-based learning on student self-reported learning and engagement in online and face-to-face learning environment. According to the results, the use of web and internet has improved student commitments and learning the outcome. The researchers also identified that technology has facilitated the access to the learning material; hence, it easy to learn complex courses by getting the resources from the web. The study also discusses the possible effects on part-time and minority students as they are likely to take online courses due the impact of technology.

This article investigates how the quality and quantity of technology use affect the outcome of learning among the students. Precisely, the author looks at student use of technology, the modern uses of technology among the students, and particular technology that are essential to improving the performance of the students. Based on the data the researchers collected from middle school, the study suggested that quantity of technology use alone is not that critical to the learning of students. The authors assert that the performance of learners depends on how the technology has been used, which is the quality. For example, when the quality of the technology is not utilized, a lot of time on the computer and other related devices may create more than the advantages and benefits. According to the researchers, technology uses that had positive impacts on learners were the one related to specific areas of study and focused on the construction of the students. Therefore, the authors summarized that it is not the quantity but the quality of technology that is important to learners.
Li, Q. (2007). Student and teacher views about technology: A tale of two cities?. Journal of research on Technology in Education, 39(4), 377-397.The primary purpose of this study was to analyze critically students and their teachers perception about the integration of technology in school and its influence based on three major questions. The first question is to examine the perception of learners about the integration of technology in their schools. The second issue was to get the attitude about the use of technology in learning and integration. Finally, the last question was examining the teachers say about underused, oversold technology phenomenon in schools. Based on the data that was collected on 15 secondary science and mathematics teachers and 450 secondary students, both educators and students agreed that technology improves the performance. The authors have highlighted that technology has reduced the pressure of handwriting which was affecting some students since their work could not be read clearly. However, the research also revealed that teachers fear that technology is taking part of their job.

The author of this book gives a recap of the importance of technology to the current learners. The authors explore the roles of opportunity in transforming learning and education as a whole in high school and post-secondary schools. Specifically, the authors argue that introduction of technology has introduced some tactics of learning such as demonstrating colors to children who are in the baby class which has enabled them to have a good mastery of such concepts. On the other hand, the author highlights the role of technology in work-based distance learning that has given several individuals the opportunity to study in oversea Universities with the help of online enrollment.
