A nurse is a registered individual working in a hospital to provide professional health care to patients under a physician, dentist, or surgeon's supervision. Nurses play an essential role in hospitals and the community level to offer their services to patients towards their recovery process by maintaining health records, communicating with doctors, observing and monitoring patients 'conditions (Gatchel, 2018). Nurses can deliver their services at any given time despite the environmental set up of the patient. As a profession, nursing tends to create employment opportunities for many people who are approved by the Nursing boards to offer their nursing services to the community. Therefore, I'm focusing on the meaning of nursing and why I want to be a nurse.
According to my understanding and best of knowledge, nursing is a profession enveloped under the medical care area concerned with the well-being of people, families, and networks so they may achieve, keep up, or recuperate excellent health care personal satisfaction. The nursing being part of medical care is an area zeroed in on the consideration of people, families, and networks to achieve, keep up, or recuperate ideal well-being and personal satisfaction (Gatchel, 2018). Nursing is an essential profession as it is particularly prominent in saving lives and ensuring that individuals in the community live up to health standards. For society to receive a healthcare department practitioner in their midst, there must have been the sacrifice of nurturing such talents in the community through support in one way or another using resource such as finances that fund the education of that type of passionate member in their nursing profession. Several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that societies receive is due to the helping hands that some people contributed, if not all.
Like other professions, nursing has the mandate and policies that govern the operations and well-being of the nurses. The American Nursing Association(ANA), established in 2015, is among other significant bodies worldwide (Gatchel, 2018). According to the ANA, the nurses are obliged to the sustainability of every individual's health status and well-being in the community. They are also to observe the underlined code of ethics in their line of duty. Nursing can also be a profession reserved for diagnosing and treating patients suffering from injuries or illnesses that require extra care from nurses. The discipline involves the knowledge and skills of the human body's functions, including how to implement diagnosis processes and methods of treatment that aids the recovery of patients (Gatchel, 2018). The meaning of nursing is considered useful when nurses' strategies give positive outcomes to patients, which may also be ineffective when the patient’s condition deteriorates.
There are many people with different types of illnesses worldwide who depend on nurses for the recovery process. Therefore, the main reason I want to become a nurse is to make a positive difference by saving patients' lives. To achieve the distinction, I am determined to ensure that the patients receive all the care standards and monitor their treatment and recovery progress (Gatchel, 2018). Nursing students have high chances to be employed in the health sectors, even with diplomas and associate degree options in education, which generally take two to three years of study. Therefore, one can decide to advance on their level of research when already employed. As a result, many institutions offer online education programs, which serve as an advantage to individuals who cannot attend physical lectures due to some reasons.
Nurses always do exemplary work in quality work delivery despite some of the challenges that may arise. Not all day must indeed be successful, and this is a motivation to me that, as a nurse, I will embrace the challenges in my profession. Nursing entails coming into contact with different people, which tends to break the boredom in offices (Gatchel, 2018). The interaction with individuals such as patients, staff members, and meeting new faces daily while at work encourages nurses to be more committed to provide a standard of care in nursing. Nurses are always mobile individuals depending on the availability of jobs and specializations. With my nursing experience, I can get employment in private hospitals, clinics, public hospitals, nursing homes, among other places.
Conclusion
Due to emergencies that generally arise in society, especially outside the hospitals, I can apply my knowledge and skills to provide First Aid services to people who are affected health wise. The Nursing License Compact (NLC) allows nurses to operate in 34 states using one license making their relocation easier from one region to another (Gatchel, 2018). Due to many patients visiting the hospitals, the massive workforce has led to incorporating specific working hours to nurses. Health workers can work in shifts to avoid ethical problems that may arise during their line of duty. Nursing ethics and honesty are parts of quality care delivery to patients. Therefore, nurses exhibit high ethical standards when offering their services to patients both in hospitals and at the community level. This initiative makes me be much passionate about nursing.
