In my worldview interview, I interviewed one of my friend who is also a family friend by the name Rajab. He is a Ph. D graduate of Argosy University who completed his studies in criminology. He outlined that the person who influences his worldview is his uncle who was once a commissioner at a criminal department in Illinois. He described that he was affected to allude to the aspects of positive psychology that aims at making an individual concentrate on the elements that make life better and assume the woes of life. He outlined that his ethnic background is an Indian-American and he has lived to learn that he is among the ethnic groups that are considered too minor in the American nation. He learned how to embrace the knowledge of positive psychology which has impacted happiness in himself (Ahs, Poulter & Kallioniemi, 2016). He outlined his educational background, which was not as good during the start as financial constraints, and bullying enmeshed his survival in grade school and high school. However, he had to soldier on step by step to a point where he acquired a scholarship to Argosy University to do his Master Degree and now he has completed Ph. D.
Rajab outlined that his experience with poverty was like a daily bread as he had to spend several days hungry but had to attend school as he knew things would be better with time. He also outlined that his family lives in the suburbs a place where insecurity and victimization by police are rampant. Sorrowfully, Rajab described that white police had subjected him to uncountable searches and seizures since he is among the people living in the suburban areas that have been used for the ethnographic analysis of police brutality. Additionally, he outlined that the media influence my worldview of ethnicity since, in most instances, the media has outlined several aspects of police brutality on the Indian-Americans, African-Americans, and Asian-Americans. In spite of the fact that we are in the post-colonial era, Rajab described that there are various aspects of colonialism and hatred that are still evident by the law enforcement agencies.
He outlined that he knows various aspects of stereotypes that range from human behavior to advertising but affirmed that he does not stereotype. His reasons were in line with the fact that every person is unique concerning the place that they live. Regarding the question of what he values most in life, Rajab outlined that he appreciates the uniqueness and alluding to the concepts of positive psychology that provides a roadmap for appreciation of any situations in life so long as they yield positive results. He asserted that his worldview has not changed with time since what he was influenced to believe by his uncle is still what he values in life and what makes him live a positive life. In regard to the question concerning his worldview and how people treat him, he said that most of his friends accuse him of living a life not worthy. His friends claim that his way of life is below that of Socrates since concentrating on positivity is connected to living a life not different from that of a swine according to Mill's argument (Ahs et al., 2016). Lastly, Rajab outlined that his family was so much yoked to supporting him to accomplish his educational goals regardless of the fact that they are living in absurd poverty.
