Introduction

Western countries are mostly associated with zero on minimal levels of poverty cases. It is not the case in the United States of America. Places like West Virginia have poverty levels high and maybe higher than that of some developing countries (Pensoldt, 2020). The difference is evident when in those developing countries, there are things that show there is poverty, unlike in the USA, where a low-income family would still own a house and a motor vehicle. What surprises most is that these cases of people in the USA lacking basic needs are not reported when the country is involved with so many charitable organizations that are in the fore-front of donating so much funding to many developing countries.

Poverty in the United States is not as invisible as people would tend to think. It is evident only that people who are supposed to cover such areas are too busy covering how other African countries are suffering when their own are suffering even more. Governments do not report situations as they are. They make them appear less severe and people forsake and forget such stories as fast as they were released. The parts that mostly feature in the news are the urban centers, beautiful roads, big hospitals equipped with all machines, schools with modern structures, and hotels with the most beautiful sceneries. The picture painted is one where development is at its best. These parts harbor middle and first-class citizens where employment is close to everyone. Poverty is every state. Much prevalent in very remote areas are characterized by children walking bare feet, diseases, and hospitals lacking necessary infrastructure, poor roads, and malnourished families.

Truffles do not discover her son is near deaf because of her living standards, too busy trying to make ends meet. Her situation and that of many others are left unattended because even professionals lack in such areas. Parents in poor communities never create time with their children. When they suffer, they let them do it silently as they lack choices. No hospitals are around, and those constructed are miles away.

Home visitation programs help in identifying most vulnerable children as they grow up. The programs ought to come up with policies that outline how help is brought to such children and not children being used to learn. Those malnourished ought to be fed, water given o such families and medical services provided. That inspires.

In many countries, many are not aware of what happens beyond the films released. Even when proper coverage is done, restrictions are put in place such that media houses cannot just transmit any news. Citizens from these poor communities also lack the necessary information infrastructure such that even social media is a platform not known to them. Humanitarian programs and groups ought not to just focus on those people easily accessible. Human rights movements should also be there to air some of this news.

Poverty should not be a case where it is associated with just some countries, communities, races, or groups. It is a global menace. Governments and organizations should focus their strength in all parts of all nations. If basic needs are not met entirely, then poverty has struck such people. Help extended to people living in extreme poverty should not be disguised and politicized, as many countries do. The families living in such conditions can be relocated if need be. Assistance can be arranged because there are already means to help. The many foundations initiated to helping should not just help those capable but also help those with absolute poverty and cannot even contribute to the national revenue. Many volunteers help but confine themselves to some communities, races, groups, and regions. If truly people want to help, they should take their help to unimaginable lengths and locations. Poverty does not choose a person, and no one has ever chosen poverty.
