Describe Your Worldview

Evolutionary psychology is the theoretic strategy that examines the psychological structure of human beings and uses social and natural sciences to explain how human beings have evolved. Human psychological well-being has evolved over the years, changing the functionality of the psychological well-being of human beings. Evolutionary psychology studies the change in human behavior over time and the factors that have contributed to evolutionary psychology (Ellis & Solms, 2017). My worldview on evolutionary psychology is that the human psychological view has occurred because of the change in the environment where human beings live; hence psychological wellbeing has changed to cope with the changing environment.

The worldview of evolutionary psychology is that the human brain is designed to survive based on the nature of the environment which exposes the human brain to different circumstances and environments. The worldview of evolutionary psychology is that the mind has been shaped by the pressure to reproduce and survive in an environment that has changed (Ellis & Solms, 2017). The worldview of evolutionary psychology is that the psychological traits of people will keep on changing as the environment changes to respond to the changing environment. Evolutionary psychology influences the behavior and intelligence of people to fit into the environment where the person lives.

Is Evolutionary Psychology Compatible With Your Worldview?

Evolution psychology is in no conflict with my worldview as people have to develop strategies for coping with the changes in the environment. The physical features of an animal, for example, are shaped by environmental demands. The features aid the animal in finding food and also avoid being attacked by predators (Del Giudice et al., 2016). This is also the case for human beings as they have to meet environmental demands. As such, they have to develop some characteristics and also become creative and innovative. Just like the physical traits of human beings, behavior traits are also naturally selected. Evolution has helped humans through adaptive behaviors that are passed from one generation to another. The adaptive behaviors have helped humans live longer than their ancestors and also promoted reproduction. While some of the traits passed to human beings by the ancestors are not primarily used, they are advantageous as they influence human behavior.

Strengths of Evolutionary Psychology

Evolutionary theory holds the argument that an organism's traits change for its survival. Organisms respond to the pressures of the environment by developing certain traits that enhance their survival (Del Giudice et al., 2016). The effectiveness with which the species responds to environmental pressures has contributed to reproductive success. The ability to communicate is among the traits that are essential for the survival of humans. Advancement in language skills is essential not only in human survival but also in safety and reproduction. Understanding evolutionary psychology helps people understand how the changes in the environment have necessitated the development of particular traits and behaviors.

Weaknesses of Evolutionary Psychology

The weakness of evolutionary psychology is that there is no data to show that all organisms have evolved because the world has been changing over the years. Research needs to be done to find out whether other organisms have experienced evolutionary experience (Ellis & Solms, 2017). The other weakness is that evolution assumes that evolution only happens positively, and there was no negative evolution of psychology. Evolution psychology does not state the end of evolutionary psychology.
