Illegal immigration in the United States continues to attract high controversy with high number of American citizens regarding it as bad for the country's economy. Despite there being stringent measures to regulate illegal immigration into the United States, millions of immigrants continue to penetrate the United States border for a search of what is regarded as the American dream. Undocumented or illegal immigration has been highly attributed to severe poverty in their home countries, violence or the quest to try and improve their living standards and that of their families (Isabella). The most discouraging fact to immigrants has always been the tedious and long process of being accepted legally, a process that ends up as disappointing for these individuals with no jobs or families in the United States. By forcing undocumented immigration into the United States, the immigrants are exploited and face various criminal injustices such as poor working conditions, police brutality and stereotyping as terrorists or criminals.

Immigrants decisions to come into the United States illegally is always met with vulnerabilities and risks that remain a challenge in one's life. One exploitation and an injustice faced by illegal immigrants in the United States is that employers use them for cheap manual labor in addition to abusing power given to them over the undocumented workers (Isabella). The abuse sustained comes in diverse ways ranging from poor working conditions, physical, sexual and mental harassment. The inability to seek justice is an injustice itself because raising a voice would facilitate return to their native homes as a result of their undocumented position being terrifying. The United States government that damns immigrants as lazy and unfit for United States economy works them tirelessly and treat them as lesser beings.

Police brutality is another injustice rampant in the United States which has seen rising cases of police exploiting immigrants especially of African-American and Hispanic origin. According to Wootson, activists and human rights campaigners have raised alarms over president Trump's endorsement of police cruelty at a time when United States police force is under examination for excessive use of force. Most illegal immigrants in the United States have in many cases been mistaken for gang violence while in real sense, most gangs are alleged to be operated by police cartels. According to statistics done by Aljazeera news in 2016, more than 1,000 people were killed by the United States police officers with almost 300 of the victims being of African-American race (Wootson). In another incidence, border patrol officers in Mexican border in 2017 beat up an undocumented and unarmed immigrant who succumbed to injuries. This was a criminal injustice which made the United States government to pay the family $1 million, an amount that doesn't match the life of an innocent civilian.

Crimes against Muslim Americans is another form of criminal injustice that have so far rose to alarming levels after the 9/11 attacks. With an increase in terrorism attacks across the world, United states has fallen victim to conflict-ridden measures that have sparked hundreds of attacks on innocent Americans that include threat from law enforcement, arsons at places of worships such as mosques and assaults on immigrants of Arabic origin. According to Lichtblau, the violent treatment and reaction against citizens of Muslim origin is not motivated by a series of terrorism attacks experienced in Europe and United States soil but by political witch-hunt against ban of immigration of Muslim origin (Lichtblau). Thus, stereotyping of undocumented immigrants is a form of crime which can be categorized under hate and extremism in the United States.

Conclusion

Conclusively, undocumented immigrants in the United States face wide-ranging issues in their quest to build a future for themselves. The United States as a government has been on the wrong side of law for committing criminal injustices against the immigrants despite their illegal presence in the nation. From poor working conditions and underpaid wages, police brutality witnessed towards Hispanic and African-American citizens and finally, stereotyping of Muslim Americans as terrorists, the US has been labelled to have committed a number of criminal injustices. Thus, proper measures should be adhered to deal with the issues to come up with a solution that solves the issue of immigrants without victimization and harassment.
