Introduction
I have completed an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), and I have practiced Nursing for nearly six years (as of July, I will have completed 6years). I have worked in telemetry for eight months and in the Intensive care unit for 3years. For the rest of my time, I have been working in a Progressive Care Unit (step down unit) In the future, I would like to be a Family Nurse Practitioner within a family care unit. I have a passion for nursing, which was caused by various things. Firstly, at an early age of 12 years, I needed a corrective scoliosis surgery, which introduced me to the nurses and hospital set up. The operation was successful, and the nurses took good care of me until I was discharged. I was impressed, and I desired to also help people the same way later in life.
Secondly, six years later, at the age of 18 years, my mother had a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) that scared me and left me very helpless. This even stirred up my desire to be a nurse the more. The need to be in a career that allows me to serve other people developed, leading me to pursue nursing, and that's why I pursued an Associate's Degree in Nursing. In my service as a nurse, I have met all kinds of people and have walked with them through the bad and good times in their hospital stay. The experience has not only shaped me into the nurse that I am but has also made be the person I want to be outside the hospital.
I would like to advance my skills and studies by pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) to help me gain more skills to attain my goal of being a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). I chose MSN because it will enable me to gain more skills in implementing best practices that manage and promote the health of the families, individuals, and the community at large. The MSN program is also vital to me as it will give me a platform to get FNP mentorship with a distinctive population and in numerous communities and settings, sharpening my skills the more. To shift from ADN to FPN, the ideal degree to pursue is MSN, and that is why I considered pursuing MSN
Besides, the degree will enable me to advance the skills that I have to gain eligible entry as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, which is my ream goal. The degree will also give me more information on the primary care of individuals and families throughout the human lifespan. The program will, therefore, prepare me adequately to treat a wide range of populations as it will offer me more information to assess and promote the health of patients across the ages. Lastly, in addition to the acquisition of necessary skills and knowledge as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I will develop competence in techniques and theories of integrative health.
I, therefore, request a vacancy in your University to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing so that I can attain my career goals. The attainment of the goals will give me satisfaction and fulfilment, mainly when I help the patients in the Family Care Units. Nothing can be more fulfilling than the attainment of this goal. Kindly consider giving me a chance in your University as it is the place where I have always desired to pursue my dream because of the University's unmatched capacity to offer the program.
