Introduction
One needs to have information on the survival tactics before deciding to begin living off the land, the world has evolved over the years, and people are used to living modern lives. For one to survive off the land, the person needs food (Upton, 2010). The knowledge that one needs to have included knowing the natural foods that one is likely to get when living off the land. There are many foods that do not require to be cooked for one to eat; hence one will know the best choice when searching for food. The person also needs to know the foods to avoid that might affect his or her health while living off the land.
Before starting to live off the land, one should be aware that loneliness may strike occasionally. If you plan to live off the land, you are likely to go for days, weeks, and even months without seeing a human being. This means that you will have no one to speak to, so if you are an extrovert who likes to socialize, then you should rethink your decision to live off the land (Phillips, 2015). Also, it is important to take note of the initial costs. This kind of living is inconveniencing as there are no restaurants, so you have to look for food and cook it. In this type of living, the stores and groceries are not accessible, so it becomes critical to evaluate what you will eat and where you will get it from. One also needs to be knowledgeable about construction as there may be no one to assist with setting up the shelter.
To live off the land one requires skills such as hunting, farming, repairing, medical skills as well as protection and security (Phillips, 2015). When living off the land, you have to look for water and apply innovation to get power. In most cases, the medical facilities are far, so you must be skilled in how to respond to medical emergencies. You should be knowledgeable about first aid and have the medications for relieving pain. You may have to use natural remedies and herbs that you can find in the land as the medicines may be hard to find.
The ideal place to live off the land is California because of the environment of the area; one needs to have good environmental conditions that support life when one is living off the grid. The area has a natural habitat where one can find food to eat from the environment (Upton, 2010). The environment is eco-friendly in terms of the environment, not being dangerous by having wild animals that can attack the person and the environmental condition that can affect the health of the person. The nature of the area, such as water availability, is also good for living off the land.
Conclusion
In conclusion, one needs to understand how life is before choosing to live off the land and the dangers that one will be exposed to. The person also needs to be sure that his or her body supports the environment of living off the land because there are people with medical conditions that cannot live in the land. Living off the land allows one to explore what nature offers. The person also needs to be aware of the challenges likely to be experienced and come up with strategies for dealing with the challenges. Living off the land is an experience that more people need to try out and understand nature more.
