Originality
This paper includes sufficient timely and noteworthy/relevant material to warrant dissemination and is relevant to the Journal, Home Economics and an international audience. A If the research is localised, the relevance to an international audience has been mapped out adequately with comparisons to international practices. R The original paper contained limited information about nutrition in the UAE and did not make any comparisons to international practices. The revision adequately maps out malnutrition as a significant problem in UAE relative to the accepted international practices that are scientifically proven in ensuring proper nutritional standards.
Review of Literature This paper demonstrates comprehension of the relevant literature and cites appropriate sources. R The original paper mentioned only the results/findings of selected sources. In the revision, I have considered more information about the sources, including study objectives, designs, outcomes and implications and how they are relevant to the study. I have also ensured that they are properly cited.
Essential (and recent) papers/literature in the field have been considered or are included. R The sources in the original paper contained old sources. In the revision, I have used sources published within the last five years.
The literature review section is well organised with supporting evidence. R The literature review mentioned and discussed a few themes from the research hypotheses. In the revision, I have considered both theoretical and empirical aspects of the literature review. In the original paper, the theoretical aspects appeared under Methodology. I have transferred the section to the literature review and made it more comprehensive. In the empirical section, I have discussed each theme that underscores the study as outlined under Research Objectives and Hypotheses.
APA standards have been met. N I have reformatted the paper and all the references and citations to meet APA standards.
Methodology
This paper’s groundwork utilises suitable theoretical approaches. A The research is satisfactorily designed, with variables and approaches described in sufficient detail. N The original paper did not sufficiently cover the participants' selection criteria and failed to pinpoint the variables and approaches used in the research. In the revision, I have added more information about participants, variables, and data collection, among others. I have reorganised the chapter to include Research Design, Participants, data collection, Research Procedure, and Data Analysis.
The selected methods are pertinent/befitting/proper/relevant. R The original paper did not mention a specific research design and data collection methods were imprecise. The revision mentions a quasi-experimental research design and survey as the data collection technique. Other relevant methods are also mentioned.
The methodology is clearly justified R I have added more information and scientific sources to justify the methodology.
Ideas are appropriately refined and discussed. N I have reorganised the ideas in the section by considering more appropriate discussions. I have re-written the whole section to meet the requirements.
The argument is organised around relevant headings such as instrument development, demographics, population, sampling, data collection, data analysis and so on. N I considered each of the mentioned aspects in the revised paper.
Results
The results are delivered clearly and appropriately. N I have organised the chapter into two sections, including descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to ensure that the results are delivered clearly and appropriately. The descriptive statistics discussed the participant demographics relative to their gender, weight, and nationality. The inferential statistics directly responded to the hypotheses.
The analysis approach has been satisfactorily conducted and conveyed. N I used frequencies for the descriptive statistics and multivariate regression analysis for inferential analysis.
Concepts have been contextualised. N Concepts have been contextualised relative to the dependent variable
Limitations have been adequately discussed. N There were a few limitations to the study. They have been adequately discussed in the revised paper.
The conclusions are justified/substantiated by the content of the paper. N The conclusions are justified by the content of the paper.
Implications
The paper establishes implications for research, action and the field, describing why the findings are important, who they are important to, and how they can be used to change practices. N I have discussed all the relevant implications of the study.
Implications for educators, researchers and policymakers are covered adequately. N The implications consider the role of the government, schools and the holistic society in improving children’s nutritional standards with reference to the findings.
The paper examines the gap between theory and practice and suggests practical applications and policy ramifications. N Possible practical applications and policy ramifications have been considered with respect to the identified gap.
The paper addresses the public and social implications of the research. A The implications are justified by the findings and conclusions of the paper. N The implications and recommendations are consistent with the results of the paper.
Writing
The paper is well-written (articulate), well-structured and uses appropriate language for the field and the audience. N I edited the paper multiple times to ensure that it is correctly articulated and appropriate for the field and the audience.
Written English/language of a high standard, and grammar, spelling, jargon, and acronym usage assists in the comprehensibility of the paper. N I reviewed the paper and used Grammarly to ensure that it is grammatically and contextually correct.
The title of the paper matches the contents. A The paper provides sufficient information / contextualisation around the research to satisfy an international audience. N The information in the paper is sufficient to satisfy an international audience.
This paper addresses an important topic, and considerable work has obviously gone into undertaking the study. Unfortunately, the paper is presented as an administrative report rather than a journal article and is, therefore, missing the required structure and scholarship for an international publication. For example, there are important sections where not enough information is provided (e.g., Participants, Data Collection – page 6) and other sections that seem out of sequence with study reporting (Theoretical Framework in the Methodology section, page 5; Novelty Statement, page 7). Tables are not labelled and aligned with the text (page 8). The Discussion and Conclusion sections need more clear scaffolding, and there is considerable missing information in the References. The paper has the potential to make a valuable contribution, but it needs a complete re-write in the format of a journal article and requires a greater connection to an international readership.
