Introduction

Retirement is inevitable in one's working life. When it happens, individuals who had a plan for it keep living healthy lives without many disruptions. In the USA, retirement may entail plans by the employer, savings, and investments by the employee, and social security ("Retirement | USAGov", 2020). While savings and investment type of a plan is an individual's project, I would rather recommend the social security where both the employer and employee contributions towards the retirement package.

Nursing Homes

Federal government aids in providing medical help to millions who are low-income, young people, the elderly, the expectant, and people with disabilities. The costs are considerably low and affordable to many. What ails most is that these facilities are disease-centred and not a patient mode of care. Taking a relative to the nursing homes would not be a guarantee that special palliative care offered is good (Black, Ormond, & Tilly, 2003). Expensive nursing homes have a ratio of 1:5 of a patient-nurse or 1:10 in the extremes while in public centres it is not the same (Black et al., 2003).

Future Retirement Lifestyle

Maintaining the current lifestyle even after retirement is hard because even health-wise it shall be different. The necessary steps I have taken are enrolling in a social security contribution model, where I contribute half of the monthly savings, and my employer offers the other half. Besides this, I have invested in savings in insurance companies accredited to provide benefits upon retirement.

Policies that Support the Aging

The elderly suffer most. The government set up policies to protect them by giving the elderly incentives every month and medical covers. While this is philanthropic, the incentives are little and age brackets raised ("Medicaid | Medicaid", 2020). Some start at 70years, where the beneficially is not expected to live long. The elderly are not sufficiently funded.

Dying with Dignity

Miller, 2015 puts it so clearly that at that moment, one only needs comfort, respect, and love. It is a moment the patient is united with the caregiver due to suffering. Patients or the elderly ought to get maximum support at their hour of dire need (Miller, 2015). Also, policies, education training, and the system should be put in place to care for these people. People are not afraid of death, but rather die.
