Abstract
All over the world, there has been a great threat posed to the species of wildlife that have been in existence. In the early years, there were all kinds of wildlife species all across the universe. However, today most of those species of wildlife that existed have already become extinct and most of them cannot be found anymore. This has been a great issue of concern and actually something that needs to be worked on with seriousness so that even if the already extinct species will not be restored, the remaining few species of wildlife can be conserved and thus given an opportunity to multiply and interbreed to come up with more species in the course of time.
Introduction
Wildlife has been endangered by a number of factors and the impact has been so large to an extent of wildlife species being completely unavailable not in one part of the world but in all continents and the main aim of this research is to explore and find solutions to curb this problem.
There have been several types of research similar to this one and they were all done with an effort to make sure that the continuous problem that concerns wildlife is solved. However, the outcome and impact of these researches have not been positive in any way. They have not yielded in any way that can bring this problem to a drastic end. The reason behind the failure of most of these researches is because they did not use the best methodologies in their studies to obtain accurate information on what exactly causes threats to wildlife. Additionally, the poor interpretations and or evaluation of the collected information also contributed to ineffective approaches being put in place to solve this wildlife endangering problem.
Problem Statement
Wildlife has been affected by human activities like poaching, urbanization, industrialization, interference with their habitats, climate change in the areas they live and more. Moreover, the competition for necessities of life like food and water between the animals and human beings has greatly contributed to the effect of losing some species of the wildlife since they cannot access the food or water they need to survive and multiply. This has been an issue of great concern for scientists, wildlife conservation firms and organizations (Song Hurst). However, as much as they would have wanted to reduce the dangers posed by human factors and by the climate on the wildlife, it has not been an easy process to go by. The necessity of all kinds of researches has been instigated by the feeling and thought that if actions are not taken in good time, then it is with no doubt that the wildlife despite being faced by threats, will cease to exist.
Project Activity/Methodology
For the obtaining of data or information on wildlife endangering in the world of today, a choice of very effective and reliable methods for the collection of the required information was necessary. The research methods used in this case were those methods that gave the best information accurate to be utilized in the analysis of the level of impact of the threats to the wildlife as well as coming up with good response strategies that will help solve these problems for a lifetime(Lute et al.). These are the best research methodologies used in this research and study to obtain the required information about the subject matter;
Analysis of Scientific Data Records
There are various records kept by the firms and organizations that are concerned with the welfare of wildlife. They store both records of the types of wildlife species that existed within particular time periods as well as the number of the species that existed from year to year. In the entirety of this research, these records are to be useful to obtain facts about the data collected by various scientists concerning the number and kinds of species that were earlier in existence and those that exist in the present day. This method was to be accurate in data provision about the endangered wildlife in that it provides the exact number of species that have gone extinct with time. Additionally about this method is that the scientists also in it provided the reasons that have been associated with this wildlife getting in danger (LACHER, and WILKERSON). This information is, therefore, be important for comparison with all the other information collected about the same for evaluation and finding of valid solutions that will be applied to curb this big issue.
Surveys
Having a serious look and analysis of surveys done earlier and currently by scientists is the other effective method for the acquisition of data relevant to help come up with effective solutions to the dangers that have been facing wildlife in the recent years. The surveys gave exact information concerning the greatest factors that are associated with causing wildlife issues in the world. In the surveys, the most crucial information and actually that will be so much helpful in framing the responses to control the dangers that are already facing wildlife is the main causes of the dangers to the wildlife(Lute et al.). This information from surveys that were conducted a long term ago and currently by the scientists of all levels helped in the comparison of the levels in which the impacts of dangers had been on the animals as years went by. The comparison of the data on the wildlife dangers from the range of years involved empirically gave the exact number of the animals that had been affected by human activities, urbanization among other such factors.
Interviews With Wildlife Conservation Bodies
Bodies that have been entrusted with conserving wildlife keep a proper record of what happens to the various species of wildlife in the progression of years. These records were a good source for the research project about endangering wildlife. The research involved interviews with the stakeholders of the various bodies that are concerned with the conservation and protection of wildlife against human harm (LACHER, and WILKERSON). In these interviews, the various individuals were able to expose the facts about the core factors that are affecting the wildlife in a negative way.
Observations and Comparisons Between Early Years and the Present
The last methodology for collection of the data was the observations of what had been taking place especially the gradual decrease in the number and availability of the wildlife species. The data that was obtained was compared between the several years to obtain the findings of how the wildlife had been endangered (Peterson, and Nelson). This comparison worked out effectively to make sure that the difference was noted between the way the wildlife had been earlier in terms of number and species and how the two had changed within the confines of the years under the scope.
Findings
From all the methodologies that were used in the research, several outcomes and or findings were arrived at. The research confirmed that the wildlife had been greatly affected by several factors in the negative manner that is why the continued existence of the various species was in great danger. These are the findings from the research;
In the first place, the research arrived at the finding that the most impacting factor that had led to the extinction of the species of wildlife was that of human beings. Human factors taking place in the habitats where the wildlife stays have led to the displacement of the species of wildlife and or animals from their areas of living. For example, forests have been cleared by human beings for settlement and the obtaining of the other necessities which they need in their lives like timber and related items (Peterson, and Nelson). The forests are the dwelling places of the animals and when they are cut down or cleared, the animals are faced with the dangers of lacking places to stay. In addition to the above, animals also obtain their food from plants and vegetation. This means that in environments where forests get tampered with, the animals either move to other forested areas in search of food or they die in the cleared environments. From the data obtained in the research, wildlife has moved from some locations to others in search of food.
Industrialization and urbanization is yet another factor that has impacted negatively on the wildlife according to the research findings and information obtained through the methodologies used. There are industries dealing with products from vegetation and this industrialization has posed great risks to the wildlife since they tamper with their places of stay to obtain raw materials.
Poaching is actually the greatest threat to wildlife as realized in the information from the research done on wildlife endangering. Most wildlife has precious products which poachers always want to acquire from the animals and sell them to tourists and other people out there who want to have these stuff for various use(Nichols). The mass killing of wild animals has reduced the number of precious animals all across the world in the course of time. The information obtained from this research proved that poaching has been so adverse in the current years and the difficulty to control it is what has led to some species of animals ceasing to exist.
Evaluation
The research about the dangers facing wildlife has been able to show that in the course of time if serious actions are not taken to control vices like poaching, forest clearance among other activities that affect wildlife negatively, then there will come a time when some of the species of wildlife will be totally nowhere to be found on planet earth (MADDEN). This is actually evident with several numbers of wildlife having completely lost. For example, the white rhino species is not easily found in the various parts of the globe and this sends a bad signal that wildlife will come to extinct with time.
Proposed Solutions
There are various proposed solutions and remedies that will make sure that this problem that faces wildlife is solved before it is too late. The example remedies to help curb this problem are a complete ban of poaching and trade of wild animal products like ivory and so. At least this will help in ensuring that poachers fear to engage in the illegal activity. Apart from this, anyone caught engaging in the illegal business of poaching and selling of the animal parts or products should be harshly punished so that they may act like examples to the rest of the people who may plan to get into similar actions.
On the other hand, the issue of industrialization and urbanization should not be tolerated in cases where it leads to the affecting of the lives of wild animals through the clearing of forests which act as habitats for the animals as well as the source of food for most of these animals. The law should provide for the punishments to be imposed on the people who decide to engage in forest ruins. The various bodies that are responsible for the conservation of forests and the wild animals must be instructed to take their roles seriously failure to which they should be banned completely and others put in place. This will help to lower the dangers that are associated with human factors and other factors on wildlife.
Recommendations
From the research, findings, evaluation and proposed solutions of the research, it is recommended that the solutions be taken seriously by the governments to ensure that the problems that have been affecting wildlife are controlled in a big way. Employment of all these possible remedies will in the first place ensure that the few species of wildlife that are remaining today are well protected from harm. This way, the wildlife will have the ability to multiply and prevent them from getting extinct with time.
