Introduction

Over the years, justice is among the factors that have been evolving. The struggle against the abuse of human rights and the denying of other people's decent living has been consistently defined and billed into local and international laws. Terrorism, among other evil, endangers human beings, has been put in the law to safeguard the rights of the innocent. Among these laws, is gender equality and an open position for women in society. However, very little has been done concerning the domestic mistreatments that women undergo. In other nations, it is not a matter of domestic problems but rather societal cultures and believes which lowers the dignity and position of women. Mackinnon and Bosman question the logic behind the failure to bill the mistreatment of women n the law, and the level of seriousness put in it.

Mackinnon, in her book "Are Women Human: And Other International Dialogues," questions why women are treated so inhumanly. Yet, these actions are not treated as severe as terrorism and other crimes. Most of these mistreatments go unsolved, and may not even be heard in some of the courts as it is treated as domestic issues, yet the life of the woman is at stake. One very outrageous topic that McKinnon explores is sexual violence on women. A classic example is the Bosnian women who are raped, battered, and sold to sex slavery. When got in another sex outside their marriage, they are stoned or even burnt (McKinnn, (2006). Most of these women are locked indoors, silenced, and imprisoned, to take care of the homes and children while the male counterparts have all the freedom to go and do whatever they wish. All these mistreatments, among others, depict women as something less human and thus the question, "Are Women Human?

The issue of whether women are human is a gender issue since the men are executing the mistreatments. It is in line with the feminist theories of patriarchy and oppression of women on cultural lenses. In most cases, women have very little power in fighting for their rights since the male gender occupies most leadership positions, and even those held by females, they have no voices. Bosman explains how the cases of violence against women have increased during this COVID-19 period, where lockdown instituted by the national government has forced people to stay together (Bosman, 2020). Most of the reports submitted to the domestic violence authorities are through texts. This means that the women are too close to the men who mistreat such that they cannot even make a call. It depicts a very insecure environment full of fear also to make a call. The reports are rampant in most of the states, with Chicago, new. York, Illinois, and Los Angeles are reporting the highest cases. Therefore, the violence against women and the laws guarding against this violence is minimal, questioning if women are human.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the lack of consideration of women and their rights as far as violence is concerned raises concerns over if women are human. It is recommended that governments begin to look into the issue and treat the violence against women as any other violence against humanity. The executors of the violence should be subject to severe punishment in the correction facilities of the states.
