Roles of Physician as Stakeholders of Health Care

Various stakeholders should be involved in the smooth running of multiple activities in a healthcare organization. To start with are the physicians. These are individuals in health care who are involved in non-surgical treatment of patient's conditions. Physicians in an organization should carry their duties efficiently to ensure patients at different levels get the health requirements that suit the patient's requirements (Brennan, 2002). Physicians, therefore, can use various ways of improving the health care of their patients. This will ensure that the patients get high-quality health care hence leading to their health improvement.

Physicians should help patients who are overweight and have an obesity problem to exercise regularly and make sure they eat quality and healthy diet. In return, the weight of the patients should remain within the normal range. In America, about two-thirds of the population have obesity and overweight problems. In this regard, physicians should counsel every patient on matters concerning diet and weight management (Brennan, 2002). The physician should also inform the patients of the diet options in existence. This will be informative to the patient as he or she will know the right combination and quantity of diet, which will be safe for consumption to avoid being overweight or having obesity.

Counseling patients on additive behaviors is another role a physician can take to ensure the good health of patients. Currently, there is a high addiction to nicotine, opiates, and psychoactive drugs. The physician should also devise ways of eliminating smoking and alcohol abuse among patients. This can help in reducing cases of lung cancer, liver diseases, and cardiovascular diseases among patients. Physicians should, therefore, engage and educate individuals about various ways once can quit alcohol and smoking. Physicians should also provide advice and resources to enable individuals affected with addiction to quit the habit.

Physicians should offer preventive services to their patients. Physicians, therefore, should encourage patients to take screening tests and stay on their medications. Measures such as preventive screening can help lower the chances of succumbing to death as a result of strokes, cancer, and health-related diseases (Brennan, 2002). Prevents services can help to lower the mortality in the United States of America. Preventive services can also help to improve the health of the citizens and help in reducing health expenditures. The government can use the saved expenditure to fund other health projects.

Physicians and nurses should also ensure the patient's safety. This can prevent patients from acquiring hospital-acquired infections. Physicians and nurses should make sure medical records are kept in order. This will ensure the safety of the patient as they will get the right and required medication. The physician should also ensure surgery is performed on the right site. Many patients die every year due to medical errors. Each patient's data and health records should be kept in good order. This will ensure every patient is treated accordingly.

Physicians should focus on the health of expectant mothers. This will help in maintaining the health of the expectant mothers, thereby ensuring the safe delivery of healthy babies whether the pregnancy was planned for or not. In the United States, half of the pregnancies are unplanned. Unintended pregnancy may result as a result of different factors such as social, behavioral, and health factors. Women may also be uninformed about family planning or lack access to family planning tools. Physicians should, therefore, ensure better medical care of mothers after conception. This can be done by providing good and quality nutrition to expectant mothers. Physicians should also encourage expectant to avoid drugs, alcohol, and cigarette smoking for the health of the unborn baby.

Physicians should ensure patients get all needed care. This ensures good clinical outcomes when a patient gets the care that is suited for him or her. This can be done by ensuring proper health keeping records of each patient. Patients should also take medical insurance, which can help then acquire healthcare when needed. Physicians should ensure that the care given to patients is based on the current evidence from diagnosis. By using current diagnostic tools, physicians can have current data concerning the patient. In return, this enables the physicians to give care based on the most current diagnosis. This ensures patients' fast recovery as medication given is helpful to them.

Physicians are, therefore, important stakeholders in healthcare. Their roles are vital can help reduce problems in healthcare organizations. Physicians should have the proper skills required in providing health services. The efficiency of the physician should be measured by relating the unit of services provided by a physician for a given period, for example, on a monthly basis (Russo, & Adler, 2015). Physicians will ensure they are efficient in their duties, knowing their performance is monitored. Physicians doing their best in providing their services will ensure patients are taken care of faster and inefficient way. In return, patients will receive services they require in time. This will help reduce congestion in health facilities, and the health of individuals will be improved.

Physicians and nurses should also carry out their duties following the guidelines laid out by the administrators. This will prevent physicians and nurses from violating the rules of the healthcare organization as they follow elaborated procedures and processes of handling patients within the organization as well as the mode of communication between patients and physicians and nurses. Good communication will enhance the flow of information between patients and physicians. This will make it easier for physicians to diagnose and provide healthcare services as the physician may make a decision relating to the patient's health, depending on the information he or she will acquire from the patient.

Pharmaceutical Companies as Stakeholders of Health Care

Pharmaceutical companies are other important stakeholders in health care. Many patients rely on products from these companies for their health. In many instances, the prices of health products ruse as there are no rules that help in regulating the price increase. The pharmaceutical companies, in return, tend to increase prices of health products claiming the costs are for covering for the research. Pharmaceutical companies have various roles to play to ensure the well-being of the patients in the society and efficient running of healthcare services. Pharmaceutical companies, therefore, have the role of quality and affordable healthcare services to patients. In this regard, the companies should be able to produce medical products which meet the requirements of the patients and at affordable prices.

Pharmaceutical practitioners should be familiar with the products and services that they offer to health care and patients. Pharmacists also should make more efforts to patient's care. The pharmacists should also ensure that they assess the patient's medication to make the patient take the medication appropriately. This data can be obtained from the notes the pharmacist can take from the patient (Blondal, Sporrong, & Almarsdottir, 2017). In return, the pharmacist gives correct medication to a patient. Correct medication ensures faster recovery of the patient, thereby making a health facility run smoothly.

Pharmacists should have a good understanding of pharmaceutical care. This understanding affects how pharmacists carry out their activities hence the output of their services on patients. Pharmacists should have a conducive environment and accessibility to resources that support the pharmacy to be able to provide quality services efficiently (Mehralian, Rangchian, Javadi, & Peiravian, 2014). Obstacles may inhibit efficiency in the provision of pharmaceutical care and service output. Such obstacles should be dealt with to ensure efficiency in running pharmaceutical services in healthcare and ensuring the quality output of the services provided to the patients by pharmacists.

As stakeholders, pharmacists should ensure they perform their duty efficiently and effectively. Pharmacists can do this by ensuring that they acquire the quality skills needed in practicing pharmacy and in working in a good environmental condition, which will enable them to provide quality services to patients. Pharmaceutical industries and companies should produce quality health care products. These products should also be able to meet the requirements of various patients. To add to this, the prices of the products should be affordable. There will be no need for a company producing quality products while the consumers are not able to purchase them. Putting these factors into consideration will lead the pharmaceutical companies to provide quality services to healthcare.

The Government as a Stakeholder in Health Care

The government is another important stakeholder in health care. The government can carry out various activities that may impact health care in one way or the other. To start with, the government can offer subsidies to industries producing medical products. This will enable the industries to acquire raw materials at a lower price, which will lower the cost of production. In return, the prices of the health products will reduce hence becoming affordable to the consumers. Patients will, therefore, acquire quality health services and products at a low cost hence contributing positively to their health improvement.

The government should also set regulations and standards governing the production of health care products and services. This will ensure that the healthcare products produced by industries are of the high and required quality. Services also provided by the healthcare providers are also of high quality. This leads to efficiency in running healthcare organizations as services are rendered to patients inefficient way. This will curb the problem of having long queues in healthcare facilities. Patients also will be able to heal in a short span of time as they are able to access quality health products and services.

The government should also ensure only well trained and qualified individuals work in health care organizations. This will ensure that workers in different fields in health care have the required knowledge and skills in providing healthcare services. The government should also provide credited institutions for carrying out training to various healthcare individuals.
