Introduction
By giving out the ability to observe and carry out a psychological and physical assessment of the clients at the end-of-life. I will demonstrate and practically provide palliative care for the patients at this stage in life and gives out a significant assessment of that care.
I will apply the experience to understand the recognition of total pain, which is very important for communication at the end-of-life stage. This can be achieved by using effective therapeutic communication to generate patients understanding and positive feelings.
I will learn and develop self-confidence when handling psychological and physical assessments which will significantly improve patient care performance at the end of life simulation.
Communication Skills That I Leant In the End-Of-Life Simulation and the Application of the Lessons to Improve the Nursing Practice
There is quite a distinctive number of communications that I gained in the end-of-life experience and this entails:
The ability to provide information effectively, the identification of the patient's misconception and give keen listening that can assist the overall performance of the student. I will also apply therapeutic communication to improve patient performance because of the application of supportive, exploration and understanding language.
The Satisfactory of the Decision Making Relating to the Dilemma and My Contribution to Improve the Situation
The ethical dilemma represented was not satisfactory even though several measures were put in place such patient psychological and physical issues were perfectly handled. First, they could have considered the determination of the possible control measures that can save the highest number of patients irrespective of their values and position in society (Aldridge, 2017). For any qualified nurse, the process of solving an ethical dilemma is the same as the nursing process itself. A careful reasoning and a systematic approach to handling the process should, therefore, be stimulated (Aldridge, 2017). The only matter of consideration is that the ethical dilemma represented in the in cooperation of the conflict ideas, negotiation and the effort to respect differences in ideology. I would have ensured that a satisfactory scenario is realized in solving the dilemma by ensuring that final consideration was given to the idea that would have saved the majority of the patients,
How End-Of-Life Simulation Experience Has Changed or Deepened My Opinion/Beliefs about Death and Dying
The end of life has contributed to the development of my understanding and perception of death and dying. It has improved my confidence, psychological care skills, and assessment skills that are related to end-of-life care. I realized that the nurses' responses when they are caring for the patients can have a diverse impact on the family members in a situation that the patient died (Aldridge, 2017). Several unintended and misinformed actions are most likely to make the family members have a negative impression that can lead to further distress to the affected families Ferguson& Cosby (2017). It has therefore informed that individual action while handling patients under any condition should be positive and you need to motivate the family members so that they can understand the diagnosis and any effect that might result thereafter in a very humble manner.References
