Introduction

Mills' overall position in the Racial Contracts is that white supremacy is all right since it promotes morality and political contract obligations. In his eyes, members aligned to white supremacy movements tend to observe high moral standards when treating each other. This author also argues that individuals aligned to white supremacy movements are more likely to fulfil their political obligations especially when the leader in power is a white. As far as I can tell, it is illogical to argue that the act of whites treating each other with respect and discriminating others is right. A thesis I am going to discuss in this essay is the idea that white supremacy is a prominent issue in contemporary liberal democracies. The main reason why white supremacy is a challenge is that of the increased complaints from people of other races. This case is the point that connects white supremacy with other world problems such as global warming. If there was no connection, there is no way it would be called a challenge. The surprising thing is that this evil human doing occurs in countries that claim to have a contract with their citizens to ensure equality. Any act that leads to suffering should not be allowed in the society. Justifying white supremacy as a form of racial contract is an extreme form of bias (Fredrick et al., 691).

A good example discussed in between the world and me that I believe can be used as evidence in favour of my chosen thesis is the case where an individual begins to mistreat people who are not members of his or her race. This case is because abusing others prevents them from being happy which is the ultimate goal in life. Situations, where white supremacy has led to the benefits of all races in the society enjoying the experience, are rare. This scenario means that white supremacy should be opposed (Vincent et al., 696).

The main reason as to why this example provides relevant evidence is because it highlights the problem of an unfair disadvantage as a result of white supremacy. It affirms that the argument that when individuals from other races are discriminated, they are more likely to end up being underprivileged in the society. In other words, these kinds of individuals are more likely to end up getting what they don't deserve. The obvious consequence of not getting what you don't deserve is suffering. This situation should not be the case (Fredrick et al., 97).

One more reason as to why this example provides relevant evidence is that the case highlights the problem of increased conflict as a result of white supremacy. Conflict arises when white individuals begin to mistreat people from other races. The act of mistreatment angers individuals from different races making these two to clash. The reason for abusing people from other races is because white folks consider themselves to be superior when to compare to other races. Based on this stereotype, they always think that everything right belongs to them (Vincent et al., 695).This as we know it is not true.

To make a positive change, the right approach to take concerning addressing the above thesis is fighting for non-discriminatory laws. This case is because societies have been designed in such manner that their functionality is based on law. Therefore, a community that has discriminatory laws is more likely to experience such problems as racism. On the contrary, societies with fair laws will not suffer the problem of racism. Another way in which a positive change can be made is through epistemological contract. When people know that they are the same, they are less likely to mistreat each other (Fredrick et al., 97). This case will involve educating the general public concerning the negative impacts of racism. This kind of education should not focus on any specific race. In other words, this kind of knowledge should not be targeted at whites alone. It should focus on all races. The danger of targeting white folks is that it will make them feel that they are being targeted. This kind of thinking might end up worsening things instead of solving the problem of racism. When people know that they are the same, they are less likely to mistreat each other (Vincent et al., 696).

Other than epistemological contract the third way that will help bring a positive change is to ask influential leaders to denounce racism publicly. Most individuals in the society are so loyal to specific public figures to the extent that they cannot do something that is contrary to them. Simply put, most individuals in the society tend to imitate public figures. When using public numbers to influence the general public, all public data should be assembled in one place and asked to give the same message. Leaving out some will make some fans continue with the problem being tackled (Fredrick et al., 96).

Conclusion

To conclude, Mills' overall position in the Racial Contract is not reasonable. As seen above, one of the weaknesses of this position is that it is based on conditions. A few of the ways that can be employed to bring a positive change include fighting nondiscriminatory laws or through epistemological contract. Fighting nondiscriminatory laws will work because societies that have been designed in such manner that their functionality is based on laws. Equally, an epistemological contract will work since people tend to have empathy for others when they know that all human beings are the same. An epistemological contract involves educating the general public concerning the negative impacts of racism.
