The foreign policy of any given country or nation regards its strategy of maintaining self-interests and safeguarding its national objectives while interacting with other nations in the world. The laws and rules that govern a country's foreign policy are in most cases determined by leaders in the position of power. For instance, President Trump's foreign policy has been scrutinized by other leaders around the globe. President Trump's foreign policy has been characterized by massive sanctions and other practices which indicate that his foreign policy in some cases has been centered on the interests of the US without putting into consideration any other interests or interests of other nations in the globe (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). During Trump's campaign trails, he emphasizes checking for the interests of Americans and putting them ahead of interests of any other country or citizens of other countries.

Trump's approach is good for him because it would help in the reduction of losses that the US incurs through trade and immigration scandals (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Trump also insisted on the importance of having legitimate citizens who are real Americans and not those who obtain immigration documents through fraud. During President Trump's inauguration, on January 20, 2017, he addresses the nation on foreign policy and touches on issues like trade and immigration (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Trump on this day says that he would reduce U.S trade deficits and rebalance burden sharing with the countries with which they are in an alliance (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Trump also makes a promise to the world that he would seek to unite the civilized world, most of which is made up of the western countries in America and Europe against Islamic terrorism which he considers as radical.

The Trump's inspiration for the foreign policy implies the assertion that the Islamic countries most of which are in the Middle East and Asia make up make up the world's terrorists (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). This is what results in massive sanctions from countries like Iran, Syria and other countries in Asia. It is also true that this might be an indication of biases in his administration and a feeling that Muslims and Muslim countries are responsible for all the terror that happens across the globe today. In the world today, Trump seems to assert that Muslims who were not born in U.S and Africans who had come to study and were undone with studies should be deported back to their countries (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). It is such radical decisions on immigration policies and rules that make many nations around the globe feel that Trump's administration is not balanced and that it may not end up well for the country.

On January 23, 2017, Trump directed the US withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership by the trade representative. TPP was an Asian-focused trade agreement, which had been championed by the administration of former President Obama (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). TPP played an instrumental role in unitingthe12 Asian countries as well as maintaining good trade and immigration relationships with the U.S. It also played a role in cementing the relationship between the U.S and the Asian countries, which have been strained for a long period by war and terror activities especially on U.S soil (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). After the withdrawal of the U.S. from TPP, some citizens of these countries were evicted from the U.S. and deported to their countries of origin in Asia.

After taking the oath of office, Trump went ahead on January 27, 2017, and issued travel bans and signed an executive order that banned nationals from six countries with majority Muslims. The ban barred nationals from these countries from traveling to the United States for about ninety days (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Trump added two more countries to the ban later to make it total to eight. These travel bans translate to mean that people from these countries could not move to the U.S and those who were from the same countries in the U.S were deported back to their countries (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). This resulted in massive losses by airlines that traveled to those countries. Trump also moved an extra mile to freeze refugee intake from Syria indefinitely. However, part of Trumps orders was blocked by a federal judge who blocked part of the order.

In the same week that Trump sanctioned several countries and withdrew help for Syria refugees, he signed two more executive orders concerning immigration. One of the laws orders directed construction of a wall on the border of U.S and Mexico (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). The construction of this wall would translate to a reduction of interactions and trade activities between the two countries. The other order barred sanctuary cities from the receipt of grants from the federal government. Barring these cities from receiving federal grants would also mean that those who are not able to fend for themselves are most likely to end up suffering anger and emaciation (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). This would make some people migrate from these cities thus affecting immigration.

Trump also authorized the striking of Syria as a way of retaliating on their use of chemical weapon against the U.S. on April 7, 2017. This striking of Shayrat Air Base angered Syrians and their allies. Russia had to intervene when the U.S. and the Trump administration put measures in place to change the UN Security Council (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). This almost ruined the relationship between them and Russia. On May 18, 2017, Trump administration decides to revisit the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). This agreement which involved other countries like Mexico and Canada seeks to create a free trade environment between the North American countries and revisiting it in favor of U.S to address any deficits would translate into worsening relationship between these countries. People between these countries interact mostly through trade activities, and its abolishment would result in strained immigration and controlled movement of people between the countries.

On June 1, 2017, Trump delivers a speech in which he announces the possibility of U.S withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, which had been negotiated by Obama (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Trump claims that the agreement limits the U.S from carbon emissions and thus would economically be to the disadvantage of the United States (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Withdrawal from this agreement translates to strained relationships between the U.S and other 194 countries in the agreement. It may also result in sanctions for some of the countries hence highly affecting immigration laws in equal measures (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). It is for this reason that many countries felt that it was not fair for the U.S to withdraw from the agreement.

From the immigration laws and moves made by Trump, it is clear that most of them may adversely interfere with the relationships between the U.S and other nations across the globe. This is accentuated by the fact that the relationships between the U.S and the countries that have been sanctioned are already strained (Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Muslim countries in the East and other countries in Africa which have been sanctioned by the U.S administration or grounds of security resent the U.S. and have developed negative attitudes against a country which they once felt was heading in the right direction(Council on Foreign Policy, n.d). Trump's foreign policy on immigration seems to be biased as only countries from Muslim countries have been sanctioned together with a few countries in Africa. This explains why Muslims feel that Trump is creating a rift between nations on religious backgrounds rather than policies and other meaningful issues.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Trump's sentiments in most of his speeches portray that he is a racist or his administration harbors hatred towards Islam. This is especially portrayed in situations where he makes sentiments touching on the people of color and his continuous statements portray Middle East nations as terrorist. The democrats criticize his thoughts and ideas concerning massive African immigration to the U.S. in a few days after he took over power, he made the public and people in the whole world feel that he was not supportive to global unions and treaties. They also felt that Trump administration is against people from outside the U.S studying or working in the U.S.
