Situation Analysis of Child Poverty and Deprivation in Uganda is a working paper that was published in 2014 by Yele Botana, Luca Tiberti, John Cockburn, Ibrahim Kasirye, and Gemma Ahaibwe in collaboration with Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) in Laval University, UNICEF, Uganda and the Ugandan Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. The working paper analyzes the current situation of deprivation and poverty among different parts of Uganda. Its authors possess extensive knowledge on research in social sciences with a special focus on economics and that enabled them to comprehensively analyze the accurate poverty and deprivation levels among Ugandan children. Due to the collaboration with the named organization, the authors were able to conduct extensive studies throughout Uganda. It was authored by Didas Kisembo and it was published on 11th June 2014. The article has been written by a journalist and thus, it is expected to possess no bias. This source is considered a secondary source as it is based on a report that had been availed to the author. This article presents a summary of the report to provide the surprising statistics on the levels of poverty and deprivation among children in the country in a manner that is comprehensible to the public and thus is very useful as a supporting document in the study of poverty among Ugandan children.

According to the article, more than 57% of Ugandan children experience poverty and deprivation. The levels of poverty vary within the country with urban areas experiencing lower poverty levels while the percentage rises to as high as 68% in the remotest parts of the country. According to Kisembo, the main sources of deprivation and determined by the report include the limited access to education, healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, shelter, among others, as the main causes of deprivation.

The report has been prepared by the authors in collaboration with Ugandan Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, UNICEF Uganda and Overseas Development Institute. The authors utilized a widespread support of experts in children affairs in Uganda to provide an accurate description of the poverty among Ugandan children. According to the report, poverty among children is best analyzed through deprivation and a child is considered to be living in poverty if deprived of two or more aspects that are the basis of the Bristol's indicators. The report discusses the adverse effect of childhood poverty and provides recommendations that can heavily reduce the deprivations that Ugandan children face.

In the journal article, different dimensions the childhood poverty among children in Uganda. In an effort to key characteristics that are associated with childhood poverty, the author clearly distinguishes between childhood poverty and community poverty. Pages 36-45 are very vital for our study.

Using a survey of more than 6800 households, the author develops three logistical regression methods to determine the probability of a child being deprived of their basic needs. Through this analysis, the author develops a multidimensional approach that can be very effective to determine levels of poverty and deprivation among children.
