Since childhood, I was always taken aback by the degree of challenges facing the healthcare field. The desire and the ire to improve patient care outcomes and a chance to engage in community betterment plans prompted me to join the pharmacy field. The pharmacy also has plenty of career development potential with the flexibility to later join many other career paths.

Teamwork is the easiest way to achieve the desired objectives. However, at times teamwork could also derail the speed of progress. I recall when we were involved in industrial attachment and we were supposed to collect data on side effects of quinine drugs on patients. Some of the team members were too slow to respond, others collected the wrong set of information, thus derailing our progress and lowering our total score.

Decision making is part of leadership duties. As a team leader during our community service project, I recall when I was required to dismiss one of our colleagues who administered the wrong drug to a patient. Medically, this was an unforgivable error. Instead, I recommended for the refresher training for the colleague and accord him a chance to redeem himself from such mistakes.

While pharmacy is a career of choice for many, the field has been hit by major instances of low self-esteem and lack of cohesiveness. Without cohesion and inspiration, the pharmacists are not motivated to deliver their best. I intend to create motivational plans for fellow pharmacist while also looking forward to initiating incentive plans and reward packages for the well-performing pharmacists.

Life has many turns and people face many ethical challenges. There is this one time when I was caught in the mix of financial misappropriation for a community project. We spent the finances meant for drugs purchased on the feeding program. Unable to deal with the guilt, I confessed to our boss and offered to have my remuneration for the entire month deducted to repay for the mess.

Pharmacy is a delicate career. Every pharmacist must show the highest level of integrity. Honesty and openness are sure to lead to the growth of an individual. Pharmacists should also be able t multi-task. A pharmacist must be able to coordinate more than one activity at a time, this way; they will avoid some of the medical errors.

In case I miss admission chance in pharmacy school, I will seek to engage in community projects that better the welfare of society. I will seek to offer my service in drug distribution, visiting and helping the sick in the community.

In the case, that member fails to contribute to the welfare of a given group project. As a leader, I will advise the rest of the team to allow them time off to undergo some training on the benefits of teamwork. Also, I will seek to involve the member in community service projects until they are able to learn the benefits of teamwork.

The most important business aspect of pharmacy is exceptional patient care. Whenever patients receive unique care, they are likely to frequent one's pharmacy is a search for assistance. This is utterly good for business and revenue increase.

I have had several instances where I have shown exemplary leadership skills. However, this particular instance at the college where I was required to lead a team of students to a demonstration of the pollution by the chemical producing company near our institution called me to action. I instead, led the team of the student to our dean of students, together with who we engaged in discussion with the company's leadership. They stopped careless disposition, instead hired a number of our students to help with designing better waste management.

The dress code of the white coast is a symbol of patient health service. Thus, the pharmacy must indicate the highest level of professionalism and perfect patient care with life-related activities. Therefore, professionalism in pharmacy is mandatory and a matter that should not be taken lightly at all.

Conflict is bound to occur between colleagues and team members. In my case, working at the Amazon storehouse, people tend to clash over inventory. I such cases, I always pull the disagreeing parties aside and to allow them to talk to each other when their tempers have come down. If the difference is big, I call for a mediator.

Conclusion

I am a motivated, time conscious and disciplined individual. My thirst for result and service delivery is to be my greatest doing in everything that I am involved in. I am proud of my leadership skills and desire to improve and better the living standards in my community.
