Health informatics systems are technologies aimed at improving overall health outcomes. The technologies analyze and organize health records in hospitals. In most cases, they enhance acquisition, storage and retrieval of health information. Therefore, this paper analyzes the importance of user-friendly informatics systems.
User-friendly informatics systems make the processes of recording and retrieving health information easier (Talwar, Karthikeyan, Bindra, & Medhi, 2016). One of the benefits of these systems is the fact that they reduce the number of errors. Another advantage is that they assist in speeding up data entry processes. In my encounter with user-friendly systems, some of the systems have been friendly while others have not. The user-friendly systems allowed me to input and retrieve data fast while the non-friendly systems posed an array of challenges, especially in accessing data and information.
According to Roldan-Alvarez, Martin, Garcia-Herranz, and Haya (2016), user-friendly systems should have learnability quality. Roldan-Alvarez et al. (2016) defined learnability as the quality of products and interfaces that provides users with a chance of familiarizing and utilizing their features and abilities. The learnability of the health informatics systems that I have interacted with has been fair. A user-friendly health informatics system should be efficient. Efficiency means the ability of a user to input the correct data and retrieve the right information from the healthcare systems. Consequently, a user-friendly system should have memorability, which means it enhances remembrance in a user. From my experience, it was quite easy to use the healthcare informatics after being away from it for some time, showing that it fostered memorability.
Errors are frequent when using healthcare informatics system. The faults that I encountered included retrieving the wrong information. Such inaccuracies affect the usability of the healthcare informatics system since they could change the process of health care delivery. Healthcare informatics systems are satisfying since they help in improving the process of care delivery.
Conclusion
In conclusion, user-friendly health informatics systems are essential in streamlining the process of care delivery. A user-friendly system should be efficient, reliable, memorable, and learnable. User-friendly systems have minimal errors and reduce the amount of time taken to complete a task.
